rear shocks

hey when i hit bumps, i can hear what souns like air leaking from my rear suspension ( i think). is this just the cheap shocks i read about that chevy uses or is it completely normal :) Thanks

Yeah, I think I know what sound your talking about. I have heard it too. Perhaps the sound is made from the internal valving or whatever of the shock. I don't really know much about the mechanics of how a shock works.

I have not had as bad an experience with these stock shocks as others have. However, Bilstein shocks are planed for the future.

More often than not, it is air in the shock.

What happens is the shock leaks, looses it's gas charge, then air enters the system creating the noises you are hearing.

I didn't think my stock shocks were very bad, except for the leaking mess and noise (my wife did mention that the truck made her sea sick, I thought it was all in her head :roll: ). That is until I replaced them with the Bilsteins.
Night and Day, it felt like it was on rails in the corners afterwards :D

Same here. When I removed the stock shocks, they collapsed under their own weight. :!:
