265/70/17 tires
I am thinking about buying a set of 17x8 Black Rock 909 Type-D Wheels.

and putting some 265/70/17 shoes on the crew (appoximately a 32x10.5 tire if i did the math right). I'm looking at maybe the General Grabber AT2, Goodyear Wrangler Authority, or Hankook Dynapro; they are all about the same price at Walmart for $170 each, which is about $40 cheaper than the 33x10.5x15 BFGs that I have.
By changing my wheels, I have more tire options and would decrease the weight of the wheel/tire combo since I would be switching from steel to aluminum.
Thoughts?

Re: 265/70/17 tires
I would not get the Goodyear Wrangler Authority.. I just bought them for my truck. I was back 5 times to get them balanced.
They had weights the size of bricks on them. They were out of round big time. They replaced two of them and the new ones were just as bad. I made them give my money back and went and bought Nitto's. They have a very small weight and ride sooo smooth.

Re: 265/70/17 tires
Just to play devil advocate, I really like my Goodyear authorities that I have in the 31x10.5x15 flavor. I have had 0 issues with them. I actually just swapped them onto the new to me Comanche, which the previous owner sold mainly because of the death wobble. I have not noticed the death wobble with these tires on it. I've had these tires for about 2 years, and they have worn very evenly.

Looks pretty good. How are clearances?

Re: 265/70/17 tires
I like the green.
Calculation says the tires are 31.6 what do they measure?
Re: 265/70/17 tires
The tires measure 31.6" x 10.8" (on 8" rim) per manufacturer's specs.
The rims are 17" x 8" with 4.5" back spacing. The clearances are a little better than with the 33" x 10.5" BFGs that I just took off. On level ground, there is approximately 1-1/2 turns of the steering wheel in either direction without rubbing the frame. I still hear the fender rub every now and then when turning and going over a bump, but I believe that is only because the fenders need to be bent back a bit more with a BFH.
All in all... I like this tire/wheel combo much better than the old set-up. The on-road ride is smoother and quieter and the truck doesn't "wander" as much at higher speeds... I'm guessing this is because they are a lower profile tire. I think that a 32"x11.50" would really be pushing the clearances at the fender. I went with the 17" rim so that I could run a " 32x10.50 " and I couldn't be more satisfied!
