tire size's yet again
Hey guys! i'm new to the site and 4x4 the truck thing. I'm picking up an 02 4x4 crew cab ls soon and want to beef it up a little but am not sure about a lift. I just got engaged and am looking for a house so budget is tiny. It will be mostly for pavement, but I have a tendency of finding empty construction sites, fields, and the occasional quarry up north to run around in so I need some grip.
From reading around it sounds like I can clear some 30x9.50's on the stock rims without to much problem.
I'm coming from a background in low fast and sharp corners HELP!!!!!

Stock rims and no BL = 30x9.5's Depending on the tire they may rub slightly, but nothing cranking the torsion bars a little won't cure.
Anything bigger (or aftermarket rims with less backspacing) would require a body lift.

Unless the Crew's sit a little lower than the Blazer's, you should be able to clear BFG A/T 30x9.5s without any rubbing at all, depending on if you front suspension has settled or not...

I think the CC's do sit a little lower in front over the wheels. I run 235x75x15 BFG AT's and had to crank up the front about 2" for adequate clearance. I compared to a friend's 99 Blazer here locally and he is able to run identical tire-rim combination with no trouble. New my tires measure out at 29.0"x9.1". Who ever had mine before me put 255/70R15's on mine. Looks ok BUT I'm not real happy with it. I prefer stock sizes (I drive 99.99999999% paved) so an agressive sized tire is not for me. Mine came from Factory with 235/70R15's. The diff is about an inch in height and may account for perceived low gas mileage. The odometer shows about .92 per mile by mile markers. I have a couple near me that are specially calibrated by MSP for speeding measurements so I know they are accurate.

I still have the original window sticker and the 235x70's came on it new. I'm the second owner.

Wow I didn't realize that the 235/70's are almost 1" shorter than the 235/75's.
235/75's overall diameter 28.88
235/70's overall diameter 27.95
I ordered my truck with the 235/75's.
Oh and I got 3.42 gears also

Actually BFG AT's are listed at 29.0" tall by 9.1" wide on their site mounted on a 6.5" rim. I think they are a little taller than some others the same size because they are LT (light truck) tires and the tread is deeper than some others. I also like them cause the carcass is beefier than some others. I didn't actually use a specific tire I just went here and calculated size Discount Tire
