Tires

Post by Smackre »

I am thinking about getting new tires. Something with alittle more traction. and maybe something wider. The stock tires are 9" wide I believe. Now if I go with a wider tire will I need new rims?

Also has anyone had trouble with the stock rims on the CC's? I bought mine about 2 months ago and some reason the silver coating on the wheel is bubbling up. Its the only thing I Dont like about my truck. I have been looking at other rims but nothing really catches my eye.

Also just wanted to say Hello guys. I own a 2003 S10 Crew Cab.

Welcome. A little wider tire may not require wider wheels.

Tirerack.com is a good place to browse for sizes and styles.
The specifications will list the recommended rim width.
Stying close to the stock rearspacing will help to limit rubbing issues.

Welcome to the forum! How about listing where you are from? You might have a member nearby.

With that being said, I'd suggest doing a search in the area that you are seeking answers, which is here. I do know that 10.50s will fit the stock rim and is recommended by most tire manufacturers. Finding an after market wheel that is close to our stock back spacing is few and far between. Deviate from stock back spacing and the fun begins.

If, the bubbling is bothering you then there are plenty of wheel specialists out there to refinish them or you can "google" on how to DIY.

LOL I know what you mean about time. Between bowling and work I dont have time for much more. But recently I did do some moding to my CC. I really didnt want to do the moding but I had to. Because after I ramed my CC into a fire hidrant it looked bad. So I put a Chrome Grille and Bumper on it.

And last week I ordered a retracable tonneau cover for it. Also ordered a tailgate lock. I am hoping installing the lock is not going to be to pain in the ass.
