Superlift bilstien shocks
Does anyone know the pn for the superlift ss shocks.I bought a superlift and installed it with the superlift shocks and they are not balanced very well.Truck rides really stiff in the rear and floats in the front down the highway.I would like to find a better balanced set of shocks and see what that does for it.

I'm not sure what you asking for. If you are asking for the part number for the superlift shocks, I can't help you, but if you want the part number for the bilstien shocks that go with 6" superlift, I can give you the number that's on the shocks.

Welcome to the site. I love that shaved step side. My next door neighbor had a step side and when they traded it they got $1500. I would have gave em $3000 for it if I had known. You don't see many of them around here. NICE !!

I searched bilstiens website and that pn does not work.
The bilstiens have to be better than the shocks that came with the kit,the shocks that come with the basic lift leave alot to be desired.

Looks good and I believe you are the first to have a RPO ZR2 rear axle. I'll be honest and say I don't like the wheel/tire combo but, you do and that is what is important. Are you planning on wheeling it at all?

I dont wheel per say,but it does get used as a truck and it has had its fare share of off road duty in the time Ive owned it.I dont care for the wheels that are on it,but the truck need tires badly when I got it and these came very cheap(free kinda cheap).I do like the look of a larger wheel on it and will probably stay with an 18" wheel. This is my daily driver and will be a tow vehicle for my other truck soon.

Very nice!!!! What's wrong with the wheels? Oh, cause they're not black. You guys and your black rims..To each his own. I like the chrome, but it just needs bigger tires to fill the wheel well. If you're thinking of getting rid of the rims, keep me in mind cause I like the shiny stuff...

i got my bilstiens installed last week and Im still not sure im happy with them.Over all it rides better than the normal superlift shocks, but it still leaves a little to be desired in the front.Kinda have a floating sensation in the front while driving down the highway and bounces alot off road. They could be a little stiffer and still be comfortable. I went and tested fitted a set of 305/55/20 grapplers on 20x8.5 kmc blck rockstar wheels the other day, looks like they are going to fit pretty good.I know some of you hard core off road guys dont like that look, but i like how it looks.I will post some pictures for the haters here in a few weeks.

20's on a offroad S10.. your right their not going to get a lot of compliments. If your offroading one of the most important features are the tires... not the rims.. You go offroading on 20's your asking to damage those rims since you have so little tire between the steel and the rocks.
On a different note, your '98 is sick. Major props!!!

We have a member running 24's - 24's. I think Brad had 20's before he sold his?
I need the flex of a tall sidewall for my terrain. I can see applications where a short sidewall would be preferable. I respect the mod and value anyone who makes an effort. Not my cup of tea for a lifted truck though.

few updated pictures
I put another set of shorter bilstein shocks on the front and it rides great now.I drove the truck around in a ditch down the road and flex the suspension as far as it would go and took all my measurements. These shock where just short enough. It may look as though the second shock does not have enough travel, but it does.I marked the shocks with a marker and went and drove in the same ditch flexing suspension and I still had 1" left before the bottom of the shock travel. This made a huge improvement in handling and how the front rides.

Very good looking truck. It really will make no difference once you swap out the 4.3 but, changing #3 plug looks like it would be a bear now with that shock mount.

how often do you change spark plugs? I can change all the plugs from under the hood anyways.

Your asking someone from the old school. I have 22K on mine, they have been changed once around 16K and am sitting on 2 sets ready to be thrown in now but, I am into overkill. I was sincerely complimenting your truck and just making an observation.slammed98gmc wrote:how often do you change spark plugs? I can change all the plugs from under the hood anyways.
Will refrain henceforth.

I was just wondering...not trying to offend you by anymeans.
This truck has 120+k on it with the original spark plugs and It is still getting around 16mpg with 33s on it.It doesnt do it with great haste, but it does it.
