More TM (Paul) questions...

Post by Jason »

I've been talking to shops in my area about the TM lift, all say it won't fit '02 CC's with-out modifications. One shop said I would need a new cross-member to lower the carrier bearing. WTF. I gues GM forgot to put one in my truck. So, my question is...... were there any deviations from the kit instructions to fit it to our trucks? If so what were they?

I think the question is that TM only appears to have fully tested the lift with the 1999 models. From what Paul's install website said, there were only slight differences from a pre 99 machine. I think the main diff. was that we have rear disc brakes and the older s10 did not so the brake cable mounts were slightly diff. So tech, as long as it's for a 94 and up, it "should" fit. I don't remember Paul getting a new Crossmember from his instructions. From what I understand, there needs to be cuts and modifications regardless of what model/year s10 you have anyway.

As for the word that the Superlift 2" kit not fitting crews, I think what that really means is that it won't work "well" on any 00 and up S10 as there might have been slight changes.

I think until the lift companies "certify" the kits for our years/models, you will get this wishy-washy answers from installers. The problem is with Liability so there is no real rush to do this as they won't be as liab. if you install it on a machine that's not listed for(hence why the TM kit says up to 1999 models only probably).

Good Luck,

It bolted up just like per TM's instructions. Only the rear brake line brace needed repositioned, and that was not big deal compared to the kit they have for the front lines, IMO.

Unless a shop actually put one on, they don't know what they are talking about. They are probably thinking about the old extended cabs that had a carrier bearing for the rear drive shaft. I have heard that causes vibrations, but only need a new drive shaft to remedy that. I have a custom crossmember, but that is only cause of the tbar relocators I put on it.

The rear brake line brace was the only real problem I ran into too. Other than the fact that the people at truckin suspension are @$$es.
