BodyLift, Backspacing and Tires

Post by coreylubahn »

So how big a tire do you experts think I could use in this "theoretical" wheel situation in combination with the 2" BL and 1" T-bar crank (that I'm doing tonight):

A 15X8 wheel with 4" of backspacing. If my math all works out it would be out 3" farther than stock. I'm thinking of using like a 265/70/15, which is like 29.6 X 10.43, just slightly shorter than a 31X10.50 (but maybe these would fit anyway)...what's everyone's thoughts? Thanks as always!!!

Good question because I'm thinking of running the same set up.

before i put the sl 6" on i had a bl and 1" tb crank. I test fitted the tires 32x1150's(on 15x8 4"bs) they rubbed a little so you could get away with a 31 x1050 but it will be close but they may rub in some situations.

How do feel about trimming?

I'm thinking that I don't mind as long as it isn't real major trimming. I would be fine knocking corners off of the wheel openings and such but I don't want to have to cut like half my fenders apart.

or you could stick with what really fits and not try to stuff something in there

i ran 31s on a bl shackles and a t bar with very minor trimming so 30 i think would be fine.

okay but what if I want like a 30X10.50 (the metric size I discussed before)? Is that in the fits category, or would rub category? I'm assuming that all this rubbing is coming from the front and rear (mainly rear) edges of the fenders, so if I have to cut a little that's fine. So we all think that the 30X10.50 would work on an 8 inch rim with 4" of BS correct? I'm holding everyone to it if you say yes!!! (Just kidding) :D

i ran stock rims though and i settled for frame rub cause it wasnt that bad. when you offset then it becomes the problem. i had 32s when i first got my lift and thought that hey i have 5 inches of lift its no biggie but because i also offset the rims they rubbed like a mofo. and it was a fricking inch biger tire and i didnt even run that much before. so i would be carefull with a different offset over stock. i solved the entire problem by re moldling my fender eventually lol ;) cause it gets annoying
