Re: tire ?
If I understand what you are asking...they will not change enough to be very noticeable.ZIGGY K wrote:found a set of tires that had a width of 10.6 and a diameter of 30.4 . they were on a 8.5 "rim . i was wondering if the width and diameter would change that much mounting them on a stock 7" rim ?????
Probably no more than would be seen by variations in air pressure. A 7" rim is usually the minimum width for a 10.5" section width tire. As long as it is still a recommended width I'd say things will be fine.
Installing them on the narrower rim will reduce the section width slightly, and give a more "rounded" sidewall appearance. This could lead to an increase in overall diameter if both are inflated to the same pressure, though while this may be measurable in circumference, it would likely not make a noticeable difference in overall diameter.
When you are referring to "Drag Slicks" this would be more important since they are very thin and easier to influence through rim widths , tire pressures and centrifugal force.
The narrower rim may require less air pressure to maintain even wear characteristics, a flatter foot print, that may lead to a softer sidewall and mushy handling.
They will however offer better performance at low pressures, be less likely to slip a bead, and absorb road variations better.
FYI: The "10.6" section width refers to the measurement at the outermost portions of the sidewall. The tread width is less and a better reference for what an appropriate rim width might be. It is preferable to match the tread and rim widths for a flat foot print and better wear.

I cranked mine shortly after I got it in FEB04 it now has 48000 miles on it and I cranked them 1 1/4 inches settled to 1in. after driving for awhile and so far ((KNOCKIN ON WOOD)) I have had no problems. Im running 30/9.5/15s but will go to 31s next time around. I would say get the tires then adjust where you need to be so that you dont go up to far.And as far as mint I would was it in the snow if it gets to dirty im kinda #### about a clean truck
