Black Daytona Wheels, need some help

Post by Walt »

Hellow beautiful peoples!

Got a few kweschuns for ya :D

My wife said she'll buy me some new wheels for Christmas (Yay!). I want the Black Daytona's from US Wheel (I think that's the name). I've looked at Summit Racing and they cost about $40.00/wheel. Is there anywhere cheaper? Also, After researching this, I've concluded that I need a 5-4.75 lug pattern, 15x7 wheel, and 5" Backspacing. Right now my 235/75/15's will go on them, but I'd like to go with 31's in the future, and not have to totally butcher my fenders to make them work. I'll probably look for a small 31"

Are my conclusions correct? Any more advice?

Thanks!

check to see if they come with center caps or you need to order them additionally (did not come with my cragars but I don't know about uswheel). and lug nuts, the stock nuts look pretty awful and they'll now be exposed.

Actually, I just found the Cragar Series 342 at summit. They're exactly what I want. I can get a set from summit for 160 shipped, but no caps or lug nuts. Shipping is only $8.95 but they only have two wheels in stock :x

My Daytonas came from summit and They had one in arizona, 2 in Ohio but, I had all four within 3 weeks. Barch had to do a little work on his truck with that backspacing. Mine caused no problems.

Yea, the only BS the Cragar's come in 4". Will that cause some problems with 31's? What if I went with 265/70/15's? They're 30" tall and 10.5" (roughly) wide?

Thanks!

Only 4" of backspacing will more than likely cause some problems with a 31" tire. I run a set of uswheels 15x7 with 4.5" of backspacing with 30x9.5 tires on a truck with a 2" body lift. Whenever I hit a bump while turning the tires rub the rear of the front fenders.

By going with even less backspacing (and an even wider tire) the rubbing would probably get pretty bad.

exactly the same here. stock tire size / no lift. about 3/4 turn and a bump, I hear the tread hitting the lip/hem where the fender rolls under.

Do you guys know of anything that can be done without butchering the front fenders to fix this problem? Also, is the rub horrible, or do they rub just a little?

Lets just say the rub isn't pretty. Its bad enough that passengers usually look at me with a shocked look and ask, "What the @#$% was that?!"

The fenders don't need to be butchered... just given a little bit of loving. :) A while back AZS10Crew sent me some pictures of his fenders that showed you just need to take a tin snips and make a couple cuts to the point of the fender. Then take a hammer and put the lip up and out of the way.

Ok, looks like the wheels may have to wait until my B-day. My wife changed her mind. Shucks. BUT! She said "since your truck is so high, I'd rather spend the money on something we can actually use, like some step bars or something" Needless to say, I wasn't to disappointed. I'm getting a set of black Go Rhino nerf bars instead. For roughly the same price as the wheels ($160 shipped).

ohh...very nice. I wonder how I'll be able to mount any of these with a 2" BL. Doesn't the brack holding the bar bolt into the body mounts? Wouldn't it be possible to bolt it to the top of the lift block (between the block and the frame) instead of the bottom?

If you can wait until next summer, I'll sell you mine...15x7 with 4.5" BS. I'll hopefully be getting the 6" Superlift and 33's on new 15x8 rims then. Hopefully... :)
