Body Lifts ???

Post by Bad_Ass_S10 »

Just want to see who all has a body lifts and what size, I know that 2" is the normal for our s-10 but does anyone have a 3"

any pics would be great, I am debating on adding a body lift or not but dont want to if the frame is visible too much, I have looked at the recent pics of warn's truck and can make up my mind if he has a body lift or not, I saw Highlanders truck in daytona but didnt have a good chance to look at the body lift he has

The stepbars hide any exposed frame.

How hard is it to install a 2"body lift? I want one, and i know there only about $80 for the kit. So it just makes sence. I have lifts and every tool you can think of, so how long will it take me? Thanks for any help.

It just takes time. There's nothing really hard about it, just a lot of steps. And the price is more like $160 instead of $80, unless you can get a good deal, then share the wealth. :D

Oh...and here's a decent pic of the amount of frame showing after a BL...

ya it will expose the frame. but if you get some nerfs, you wont see the side frame rail, but you will need to mod the nerfs so that sit higher to the body. and the just cover the gaps in the fenders with some rubber

Just make sure that all of the parts and hardware in the instructions got put into your box.

The rest of it is pretty easy -- read the how to on Hobie's truck from the main www.s-10crewcab.com site, and read this thread as well--decent info.

dont cut the filler hose. just put it back in place. also, you will need 12" of ext on your socket wrench to get to the body mount near the gas tank for the bed. you will also need a 10mm shorty wrench and a small hand to get to the bracket on the side of the oil pan. the bracket holds fuel lines and wires to the cpu. you have to take off all brackets that hold stuff down. do not skip steps!!!

btw...here are the tips from the mod page from our site

Tips:
Follow the instructions step by step and do not skip a step! they are in a order on purpose.
It is best not to cut the gas tank filler tube and install the extension. Loosen both upper and lower clamps , adjust the hose for maximum length, re-clamp. It will be snug, but should allow installation of the bodylift.

When your kit arrives at your house, check all the parts to make sure they are there. Mine didnt have all the parts! (you may have extra parts)

Leave you a few days to complete it, just in case you run into a snag.
Be prepared to drill holes into brackets when they dont fit.
Don't put the air filter back together before you fix mount the upper and lower shrowds. The instructions have that one backwards.
Make sure to dismount the lower fan shrowd off of its stock mounts on the bottom. you will not use them anymore. That is left out of the instructions too.
When raising the bed, before wrenching down on the bolts, make sure that the spare tire lift mechanism still lines up with the rear bumper.
Have somebody watch the wires to the pcm while lift it.
