did the t bar and shackles!

Post by bubaloo1983 »

well after lots of research i finally get my t bar crank done! yay for me...truck sits nice about 2 inches taller...i like the look but its not yet finished.....i was wondering if anybody knew where i could order a body lift? no where around my place makes offraod stuff....ive looked every where...so i need to get it ordered i think. i want the 2 incher that every one is talking about i think that plus what ive done would look really good....then some 31s or something. one other ? if i do the bl as well as what i have done with the t bars will i need new shocks that are longer? thx for all the help and this site rules!

Thanks for the compliment, I like the site too :D

The BL will not affect the length of shocks and the T-bar crank should not be a problem either. You should still be well within the normal range of travel.

I think Summit is still the cheapest place to get the BL from. Part # PRA PA192 I think...or something like that anyway. :)

Just make sure you go check the kit thoroughly for missing parts...several of us have had parts missing from our kits.

yes yes, count the parts in the kit. just dont jump into the install and render your truck useless and realize you dont have all the parts. then it takes 2 months to get all the stuff in from performance accesories...thats how mine went....also, be prepared to make stuff work, every kit seems to be a bit different and you have to use common sense. there is step by step instructions but sometimes you have to switch the steps around to make it easier....also, be prepared to drill out holes or make little modifications as the install is going on

and congrats on your truck. what tires are you thinking of getting..i would love to see someone's truck with some cool tires, other than bfg on there :D

tires...ummmm good question...yeah i like the bfg but i want someting cool....i like these micky thompson tires but i have no idea what they are called...they have some crazy design on them...maybe they are claw something i think. tires are last after the body lift...im hoping for maybe a 33 inch tire but i dunno....hard call my friend has 33s but he has i think 6 inches of lift on his truck. now about the bl im not very mechanically inclined...is it really that easy? do you think just a regular shop would put it in for me? i dont want to screw anything up. ok so you order it form what place? have a website url or address?
thx for the help

Order from www.summitracing.com

A shop will be more than happy to install it for you...for about $500. It's not worth it for a $160 mod.

The install is not difficult at all. The instructions are very good and have pictures of almost every step. You can also look around on the board here for pointers from those of us who have installed them. The only real special tools you need is some small ignition wrenches to remove the tranny cooler line bracket from the oil pan, and a 10" socket extension to get the body bolt next to the gas tank. Other than that, it's basic hand tools.

You'll probably never get 33's under your truck with just t-bar crank and BL...unless you don't mind rubbing on every bump and turn...or don't mind chopping up the fenders. 31's are the biggest you can get...and they might even rub some. 30's are the safest bet on stock wheels.

and if you arent really mechanicly inclined, then i wouldnt do it yourself. but like mark said, 160 kit, 500 bucks extra makes it an expensive mod.

and no chance on 33's..your wheel well is only 31"....here's a pic of when i put 31's on my truck

here is my page about it

Yea, that spot is the trickiest spot, right behind the front wheels. Mine nipped a bit also, I just gave it a few wacks with a hammer. If you're good with body work, you can work it over real good.
