swap torsion bars?

Post by amxguy1970 »

one other thing. a guy on my chevy truck swapped out the torsion bars on a 3/4 ton to his half ton. not sure if that gave a lift or not, but my question is will the bars on a zr2 bolt in? those are stronger and taller right? if they can how much taller will they be then stock. im expecting the answer to be no from what i have read in the past, just thought i would check. thanks yall :thumb:

I really doubt they're any different than ours. I'm no expert though. :)

Different torsion bars won't offer any lift. Just a different spring rate (stiffer, or softer) It is the adjustment and key clocking of the "pork-chop" that lift or lower. Even that is limited to the suspensions mechanical limits. It is true that stiffer bars would offer less sag under load though.

That said...I was under the impression that our bars are the "Heavy duty" ones.
The Z85 suspension package is the "extra capacity" suspension package (Z85= Chassis package, high payload firm ride).
If anything , I would think a ZR2 might want our torsion bars.
