RS 9000's

Post by Justin »

I desperately need new shocks and because I haul alot of construction equipment and attatchments for excavators and bobcats, I need an adjustable shock.... I was thinking about getting the Rancho RS 9000's with in cab adjustable meter. Think it's a good choice or am I just paying for the name?

I've heard good and bad, one guy swears by them the other hates'em.

I think they would be OK, and there is a thirty day "no hassle" return guarantee.

I'd save the money for the cab controller for now though. The guy who loves them said he played with the adjustment for a while when they were new, but now found the "sweet" setting and leaves them where they are.

You can always add it later if you end up adjusting them lots.

If you are looking for extra help with the rear suspension for towing/ hauling what about adding airbags and a controller?

I am not sure about the 9000's but the 5000's suck!!! I've been through at least 4 pairs in the past 5 years on my K5.

Good luck!!

my step dad and i had a one ton dually that we towed a large trailer with and i would definately recommend the air bags..

better ride unloaded and you can get exactly the right amount of rear lift to stabilize your truck for whatever weight you can tow..

I have the RS9000 on my Trooper and they are nice. They only thing is that the trooper is heavy so I have the settings on 3 and 4 cause I feels 1 and 2 are way too soft. They will probably work better on the s10 since it's a tad lighter than the trooper. But in reality, I don't really change the settings at all. So I'm not sure it's really worth the extra money. I think if I were to look at new shocks, I would consider the non adjustable ones. My choice would be the OME/ARB shocks but they don't offer them for the S10. :( For the S10, I would consider those new Bilstein shocks, but I'm worried if they are too rough for daily driving. Probably another choice and much cheaper would be the ES9000 Procomps.
