I have a 2002 crewcab with 130K. I recently changed the transmission filter and flush the unit. I changed the bushing in the valve body and made sure the filter was in correctly before reinstalling the pan. I noticed a couple of days after the flush, when you first run the truck from a cold start the transmission makes a noise when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third. The noise occurs right when it shifts and it sounds like a high pitch turbo fan for about a quarter of a second. After the truck runs for about 5 minutes and is heated up it doesn't make any noises again until you let it sit and cool down. The driveability hasn't changed, it shifts normally with the expection of the noise. I put dexron III in the tranny and the unit is correctly feeled. Any ideas... Thanks
Could it be the engines fan you are hearing? Is it possible that it might be belt noise?
Are you using a Gatorback belt?

When you say bushing, are you talking about the filter seal? Did you damage the aluminum around the seal and did you manage to get the seal installed flush with the valve body?
I checked the belt and fan, no slippage on the belt and fan is working like it should. I didn't damage the aluminum and the seal is flush with the block. I'm dropping it off with a mechanic tonight, so to get a cold start the next day. Thanks for the ideas....
This will be interesting.........

Problem found!!!!! The transmission shop said they have never seem one act like this one, being that the transmission is noisy when it is cold and after it heats up the noises go away. It's the torque converter, the mechanic said he would go ahead and pull the from pump too.
