Engine swap on 2000 Blazer
Hey all. I'll be doing an engine swap in Sep when I finally get back from my trip. Anyhow, I got a great deal on it last year, but my wife ran it with warning lights on, yea, she ignored it. Well, she ran it without water for probably about 30 miles and burned up the engine. Yea, it was a perfect engine before that. Anyhow, and good resources or pointers?
How about this place for an engine? They seem to have better warranty and better price than Jasper, and it would be kinda almost local for me, cause it's only a state away.

I havent heard very good things about jasper stuff... atleast on heavy equipment...
I dont know... something like an engine,,, I think I would pay extra and find some one local who is known to do good work.

I usually get a very good price on a new GM engine. They do reman as well. It might be worth checking out.
If I get the chance this week, I'll see what my price is.

The shipping mite kill the deal but this guy has good stuff. I have bought three motors from him and they were great...
If you talk to him he comes off as a smartass but he does have good stuff.

Re: Engine swap on 2000 Blazer
Hey all, I finally did the engine replacement. I got a used engine with 96k miles for $250, and did it myself. Parts came to more that the engine. Good time to put new stuff on when it's all apart. I figure I saved at least 3-5 grand doing it all myself. It runs super smooth, like a new ride.
Here's my pics and notes on it.

Re: Engine swap on 2000 Blazer
I would imagine that there will be quite a few crew cabs ready for this sort of thing soon. Engine and transmission swaps are the next thing in line when the miles stack up.

Thanks. I know it's a brief write up, but when I was concentrating so hard doing it, uuuggghhh. If anyone has questions on anything in particular, I probably have the answer.F9K9 wrote:Great pics and comments. Good job, Paul!

Re: Engine swap on 2000 Blazer
Yea, I bet. The mileage has been going kinda slow on my crewcab. I have like 122k miles now, been driving the Blazer. But now that I got all the kinks out of the Blazer, I been missing my truck and started driving it again.HenryJ wrote:I would imagine that there will be quite a few crew cabs ready for this sort of thing soon. And the kinks were:
Needed new O2 rear sensor. And don't use Gate's belts, the squeek like a MF'r, use Gator backs or the GM belt.
