I have a CV Boot clamp that is not tight enough and has started slinging out grease. I found another clamp and I am hoping to replace the grease that was lost and put the new clamp on for a quick fix. The boot is still good as best I can tell.
I know that you are not supposed to mix different types of grease. I know that you are supposed to clean out the old grease and add one packet to have the right amount of grease in the boot. That would involve pulling the axle out and since it has 140k on it then I might as well put new boots on it and check all the needle bearings and balls. It would be easier to just replace the half shaft with a new or rebuilt one. I don't have time to do all that.
I bought a tube of 3% Moly, Lithium base CV joint grease. I can't find anything in the Helms manual that says what type of grease these truck use.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I buy a packet of CV joint grease and try to make an educated guess as to how much was lost.
Any attempt at replacement is better than none.

I always seem to get a packet of green that looks just like the factory stuff.
I really don't know what all types are out there. I would think that mixing is less critical than some other situations.
