leaking rear seal on the transmission....

the end of the transmision going toward the back of the truck right before the u joint that conects the drive shaft.....is leaking...i noticed it the other day gettin a new fuel filter..the cross member was covered in oil i was :evil: :x and i was just curious as what might have caused this and anything more information you could give me on this...

I Don't Know What The cause Was But My Truck Had The Same Problem, It Was Replaced While The Vehicle Was Still Under Warranty And I Had About 22,000 On It I Believe.

Is it enough to leave a drip on the ground in your parking spot?
If all you see is some moisture and fluid around the seal, I'd wait for it to be much worse before worring about it. Check it at oil changes and keep an eye on your fluid. If it gets worse then change the seal and check the tailshaft bushing for excessive slack.
