pinion seal leaking

Post by rdivirgilio »

my 03 s10crew has developed a nasty leak out the pinion seal in the rear. Everything is stock on my truck and only 48k miles. The gear lube seems to be very dirty and is not the same weight as when i filled it. Anyone else have this problem?

There are no aftermarket seals available so i will have to go to the dealer for the part. Seems a little early to have a bad seal.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have the part# for the single seal and a explanation on the removal and installation?
