Recently my air bag light has been coming on. It come on randomly, shows the light indicating that the system is inoperative. If I turn off the passenger side airbag (using the switch), the system always works with no light (no faults indicated). My wife often rides with me and I want the airbag working (hey! no jokes about my wife being an air bag! ).
I have replaced the passenger disable switch with another from a junkyard with no improvement.
Any suggestions?
Steve

Year , make and model may help.
We don't want to confuse crew cabs with yours if there are differences.
Obviously yours is a truck, where ours is a utility. That in itself includes some differences.

I edited your signature to include that information.
Might be worth checking grounds? Fuses?
I have a '99 fullsize that is doing the same thing, but haven't had a chance to look into it yet. I'll let you know if I find a solution to that one.

You might need a new air bag control module. My air bag light began acting up around 40k miles and stayed on permanently by 60k miles. I had a dealer look at it and they told me I needed a new air bag control module. The only reason I have not had it fixed is because my extended warranty won't cover it and the dealer wanted $600 to fix the problem. One of these days I will buy the module and install it myself.

Thanks. I'll check for a used module.

I think most of the stuff I have been dealing with is still first gen technology?barch97 wrote:Do those models have the passenger seat weight sensor thing?
That is a good point though. I'll keep my eyes open for that on the fullsize.
