ECM Data retreival

My truck is a 2002 Crew. I would like information about what software/hardware to use to retrieve data and change data in ECM. I have the ELM327 that I use with my smartphone, but I would like to do more. Kind of like the "tuners" do. Is this possible? Any suggestions for this?
