The airbag light is intermittently going on and off. I'd like to remove the SIR fuse until I get it repaired.
If I remove the SIR fuse, will it cause the airbags deploy at random? (Obviously not by an accident)
Thanks

Re: Air Bag Light comes on intermittantly
The manual says if the light comes on, the airbags can deploy for no reason. Is this true?
I have never heard of this happening on any vehicle.

Air Bag Light comes on intermittantly
The airbag light comes on intermittently, then goes off. There's no pattern to this, it seems random. The manual says if the light comes on, the airbags can deploy for no reason. Is this true? Any ideas what can cause this light to randomly come on?
Thx!

Yeah, I'm thinking mostly ignition, but any of the other items can be suspects.

Hard starting
My 2001 4.3 Crew Cab is hard to start only if the engine is already warm. I have to crank it for many seconds then it starts and it runs good. Sometimes during the cranking, it backfires. I can't afford to have it looked at right now and am hoping to get some guidance here for now so I can maybe fix...

Re: Corner/Parking lights clear?
They dont make it. What I did with mine is it came with the "fog lights" they are really driving lights, because they are above the bumper line. Im connecting a relay to one of the pigtails for the "fog lights" and putting a set of actual fog lights under the bumper in the holes where my tow hooks ...

Re: Corner/Parking lights clear?
Are you talking about just the orange relfectors on the corners or the orange for the whole turn signal? You can get something like whats above and just remove the orange reflectors. I used to run stuff like that on my older cars with all Amber LEDs. Now I just got these for my truck in smoked blac...

Re: Corner/Parking lights clear?
They quit making those clear corner lights years ago, once in a while you will find a set on ebay and they go for at least $100 still. Our only choices now are removing the fog lights and running clear corners without fogs, or finding a set of clear corners with built in fogs (they can be hard to f...

Corner/Parking lights clear?
I am looking for a set of clear or smoke corner lights for my CrewCab, I have the factory fog lights. Anyone have a set or know where I can get them? Ebay doesn't have them. My current ones are yellowed and pitted. Thanks!

Steerin Wheel Centering
I took my Crew Cab in for an alignment, and a few months later I notice I have to hold the steering wheel at about 11-o'clock position to go straight. I brought it back last week and the alignment was still right on. They told me there's an adjustment to center the steering wheel. What is the adjust...

Re: Faint coolant odor
I would first check carefully around the thermostat housing. On mine the slight leak was dripping onto a hot part and vaporizing so it was very hard to find. You could also go to the dealership and get the UV dye they can add to the system to check for leaks but it would require you to have a black...

Faint coolant odor
Every time I shut off the engine and get out of the truck, I smell a faint odor of antifreeze/coolant. I sometimes have to add coolant to the overflow tank, but not often. Recently the intake manifold gasket leaked bad and I had it replaced, and I was hopeful that was the cause of the odor (a small ...

Heater not working
When I turn on the heat in my S10, the temperature coming out the vents is about 10 degrees higher than the outside temp. The system has been flushed out, thermostat changed and the hoses are hot going thru the firewall. My mechanic advised me that the flap in the system is stuck, which makes sense ...

I have a 2001 4.3-W and was wondering where the Coolant Temperature Sensor AND Sender were located.
I believe there one for the instrument panel gauge and one for the Computer.
Thanks!

Engine taps when started
Sometimes, not always, when I start my truck (4.3) the engine taps as if it is not getting oil, (the sound it makes when its first started after an oil change), but clears up within a few seconds and occasionally I hear one tap for a minute, then it stops. I have observed my oil pressure gage and th...

Overhead temperature display
The overhead outside-temp display in my 2001 S10 intermittently displays very low temperature, like when its 95 outside, the display may display 35, then all of a sudden pop-up to the correct temp. Sometimes its off by 10 or 20 degrees.
Any ideas are appreciated.

ABS brake problems - Parts number sources
Does anyone know where on the Internet I can find GM Parts lookup, specifically for my S10 CCab. Also, I'm in need of the pricey ABS Control Module (full price is $935, discounted is $530) thats recertified/reconditioned? Mine has a very intermittent issue of turning on the ABS and Brakes dash light...

Brake and (ABS) warning lights
Intermittantly within seconds after I start the 2001 CrewCab, the Brake AND (ABS) warning lights come on. The brakes and ABS both work normally while this happens. If I turn off the engine and restart it, the lights may not illuminate. Any ideas of what may be going on? Someone said it might be the ...
