Another alternator replaced. This time, I was given an all new one from their supplier not a reman unit. It is also the 145amp version designed after the acdelco unit. I'm sure the parts inside are different but same case. It keeps a solid 13.8v with +/- .1v which is very acceptable. We will see how...

Yes part of a class III hitch. It has a 2" ball in it now but I would be taking it out for the anchor shackle. Sizing of that is another question. I would need the pin to be 1" thick to match the bolt hole for the ball. And anchor shackle with an opening of 3/4"+ It looks like the ones that would fi...

Custom rear recovery hitch
I'm looking to make a rear recovery point. I have an old hitch with 2" drop. I want to turn it upside down so its 2" raise almost like a skid for the rear. But I'm looking for a pin to run through it. This is what I have: http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Images/10017/10017-md.jpg This is what I want ...

If you want to easily fit 31s, get the shackles, t-bar crank and body lift. It will sit 4" higher or so front and 5" or so higher rear. That is a good amount of lift...

To my knowledge and the way I see it, replacing the keys would allow for more tension to be put on the torsion bars and thats how the lift is achieved. You are still adjusting the torsion bars and changing the ride characteristics. The keys just allow you to adjust the bars past the stock specificat...

I guess I don't follow, are we talking backspacing or rim size? The 31" tire is going to be 31" regardless of rim size. The backspacing just simply is the inches that the tire is going to be in or outward from the hub.

You can simply get different backspacing on the rims. The front and rear however are not lined up on our trucks so the fronts will stick out a little further. That is why I personally chose to get spacers to equal the stance not offset it. You could easily get rims that will do the same job however....

So this may cause premature failure of the regulator due to overheating? Or PCM problems as well? There aren't any local alternator shops to take advantage of. The new trend is taking the whole alternator out and replacing it. I have a lifetime warranty but I might get sick of replacing it eventually.
