The change is quite easy in the 2002. I did mine last summer as mine was having the exact same issue. The change took about 15 minutes. I went to an auto wrecker and got a used one out of another S-10. Cost was $25.

Hi, when I am out driving on the backroads, there is a rattle coming from where the tilt steering is located. It has a bit of play in it. This is perfect. Can you see any where there could be play? I checked the rag joint and it is fine. It seems to be where the steering wheel is attached to the shaft, but based on this diagram, I cannot see how there could be any play.

I have not removed the seats yet. I am thinking it has to do with wiring. If I move the seats lower in height, the clicking comes back but the heat still does not work. I will post once I have had a chance to look at it.

I am pretty sure it is the black box as the wiring looks sound. I will pull the seat on the weekend. What makes me think it is the black box is the fact that both seats are not working. If it were wiring a fuse would blow, or only the one seat would not work.
