WOW; I didn't realize this thread still had legs. As an update; I did the flush thingy to the heater core. There was heat-output improvement... but it wasn't like original. I guess I was now at 60% of what it used to be. Then this second time I got a quart of the radiator flush chemical, but used it...

My rear O2 sensor's heater opened up at around 68k Miles... was a inexpensive DIY repair.

But ball joints ??? What's the deal with them? At about 45k miles I had a tire store tell me about the ball joints having wear/play... I thought he was BS'ing me.

How hard are they to replace DIY style ?

follow up; My first goal was to get the vehicle back into 2WD and wait until better weather to look things over. Since the transfer case was stuck in 4WD and the buttons on the dash did nothing (other than the 4WD LED was lit), I decided to disconnect the vacuum going to the front axle engagement va...

4wd selector pushbuttons *solved-fuse*

With all the snow today, I activated the 4WD via the dash mounted push button. It went into 4WD fine, but now won't come out of 4wd. When I pushed the 2wd button, I heard the usual clicking noises, but the indicator stayed lit for 4wd (and it is indeed still in 4wd). If I push the 2wd button again, ...

yes, still -sadly- running dexcool. I bought a flush kit and forced water through the heater core. It was almost completely plugged up. I didn't have much time, got it going to about 80% heat output compared to what it normally did. Good enough until I can spend more time with it. What are my option...

no heater lately

hey peeps (and you pervs too... :) ) It's been getting worse as the days go by but I have little to no heat coming out of my 2003 S-10 CC. Air flow out of the ducts is strong, just the air temp is luke-warm at best. The engine temp is up around 190-200; radiator is hot and pressurized. But after a d...

I can still rotate (I think) ... side to side. Those tires are also directional so I wouldn't advise running them backwards just to get better wear. Steve can still go side-to-side, and keep the direction the same (but this would require the tires being removed from the rims... and would add a litt...

Those rims look way better than the stockers! :thumb: Make sure your alignment is set perfect since you can't rotate those tires. thanks ! I also like the Vette! 8) Steve it's the wifes (she's the one drivign on the S-10 video). Got everything at Tire Rack; ordered it Monday morning, arrived...

Bone stock... NO MORE !!! Round #1 of mods begin

(nice video near the end of the post !!!) after 4.5 years of driving my 2003 S-10 Crew Cab... bone stock; I decided to upgrade instead of replace. First mod is new wheels and tires. Wheels are the Sport Edition F7: http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/sportedition/swap/se_f7_ci3_l.jpg painted and ...

There is no magic cure. Lots of little things can make improvements, but they are small. If you are really looking for power, get a bigger motor, and more than likely a bigger truck. If you are looking for mileage, tune it well , let it breathe and keep your foot out of it. I am happy with the perf...

... it looks like an aftermarket Y pipe and cat back system are they best way to go. That takes me back to my orginal question... which emission-legal headers to buy? ...Our Y-pipe is a good one. No gains there. Did you read any of this thread? No on y-pipe. No on headers. Those are my suggestions....

No; only kept it for about 2 years.

So, now it looks like an aftermarket Y pipe and cat back system are they best way to go.

That takes me back to my orginal question... which emission-legal headers to buy?

I had an experience many years ago with my 1980 Corvette http://mikemercury.home.att.net/heritage/tim-1980-1.jpg I bought this car new, and it had a standard 5.7L where the exhaust was combined into one cat, then split again after the cat into two mufflers. One day I got under the car and discovered...

Cool !!! my muffler guy said they there's nothign to gain (power wise) by going to true duals... unless I go without cat(s). I can't do that. I notice many of the dual exhhaust conversions are not true dual exhaust. Is this because true dual exhaust (with two cats) is not really needed... or because...

The stock manifolds are not terrible. Best gains are seen catback. If you need headers there are a ton of things that you can do first. For the price I would not add it to the top of the list. Great, then you've saved me some money (that I can use elsewhere). Cold air intake I assume is a given. Ar...
