We handed the keys over to the kid today. He was crying cuz he was so happy. He's had a rough life. Not much to be happy about.
Felt good handing it over to someone who will enjoy it rather than scrap it. I told him I want to see it after he finishes it. I'll post pics then..

Sorry to take so long to reply. They had to use the delphi pump. It was the one they did last time. Warranty specified it. Can't remember if that was the one with upgraded connectors. If it isn't, I'll do the pump myself if it fails again.

Use a Lucas Oil injector cleaner and fuel system treatment once a month. It was a little warmer this week and the truck seemd a little easier to start.

Forgot to post that. It just had the intake manifold gasket replaced, but it was doing this before that. I did check the fuel pressure tonight and its reading 58lbs with the key on and 50 running.

Yeah, learned about the pre load on here, so was aware of that. I had the u joints replaced last winter, wanted to do them myself but time off work wasnt an option so had them done. I did notice that the rear u joint has a zerk fitting and the front does not. Which makes me think it wasn't replaced....

Yeah, there are a few. depends on how out of balance they are. I checked mine and didnt see where any were missing. I tried to tighten the pinion nut but vibration was the same. it could be plastic, it is definitely the source of my noise though. I put my finger over the inside of the bend and the noise stops. Didn't notice the exhaust fumes either.

Got ya. Checked out the posts and good info. Did closer inspection last night and there is a rubber elbow on a metal pipe right next to the manifold that is cracked. You can feel air coming out of it. Going out to replace it now... keep you posted

Ok, checked the manifold using a piece of fuel line as a stethoscope and the noise isnt coming from the manifold. There is a small metal tube on the front of the manifold and the noise seems to be coming from there. Is this part of the EGR system or Air injection? (or do we even have that on the 200...

Yeah, thought about manifold gasket. Hard to see up under there. I did check where head pipe joins manifold and no problems there. Is there any harm if I can't get to it right away? Its gonna be at least 3 weeks and almost 700 miles before I can work on it.

I did hit it with PB Blaster 3 days before, but no luck. Do have a sawzall, but at this point, I'm done, too frustrated to do it. May end up making things worse.
We did try the screwdriver trick, but it was too rusted.
On a side note, when the pump went out, it had just rolled over 190,000 miles.

Well, we attempted it. I broke the front tank strap bolt. Went to undo the rear strap bolt and the nut up inside the frame is spinning. Yeah, the tires have been rotated 2x and it was there before I bought new tires. I notice it mainly at about 40 mph and again from 60 to 70 mph. It does not appear to be transmission related, as it does it when Im driving and I put it into neutral, it stays the same. No vibration in steering wheel.

Pulled in driveway tonight and rear axle made a loud clunk..If I try to turn the truck while moving, the rear tires chirp. I jacked the rear of the truck up and tried to spin the tire on the driver side and both tires turn the same direction with a grinding sound.

Yeah, guess that info would have been helpful. 235/75. Mostly interstate highway miles (350+ per week) so good highway manners, wet traction, and unfortunately, a pretty strict budget of $550. I do like the BFG's, but the ones I like are out of my $$ range.

Yeah, its making the grinding noise too. Wheels are balanced. Gonna check it out tomorrow, see if I've got any endplay and go from there. Thanks for the input.

If I have a wheel bearing going out, would the vibration/noise be constant regardless of vehicle speed? Here's the situation. When I get the truck up to 60 mph, there is a definate vibration coming from the front end. If I slow down, shift it into N, the vibration will continue until I slow down to ...

Ok man, thanks. Looks like I'm working on the truck AGAIN this weekend. At least Oreilly and Autozone are both within 2 miles of home if I need to make a run.

Cool, thanks. It didn't like it was going to be that bad of a job, I knew there were some concerns on making sure I mark everything to keep it in line when I reinstall everything. Rear pinion seal
Anyone have a ball park figure on having the seal replaced ? I think I can do the job myself, but not sure. Have most of the tools, but the seal installer and gear puller I may need to rent.

I bought an ARE cap two years ago for $250 used. It does not have the side windows though, so I only use it when I go camping.
