DONE!

Took my father in law and I about 2 hours to do it. He had the vacum pump and had a friend who had a tank for the freon. blowing nice and cold air now.

Really was not that bad of a job. 1 more repair learned.

A/C compreesor clutch

Driving home form the inlaws tonight, the A/C compressor started making a grinding sound. It quits when I turn the air off. I'm hoping it's just the clutch and not the entire compressor.

Question is: Is the clutch easy to replace? Any special tools needed?

Thanks for the feedback. One more question on this, do you think a faulty TPS could cause this problem. (My check engine light is on, but its that annoying P410 or 401 code.)

The idle is fine and I have not had a chance to get with the dad in law to use his scanner, but what do ya think?

Going to try the filter change this weekend. Trans was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago. $1,900. If that does not help, going to the shop. AGAIN.............Guess that is expected for 150,000 miles.

problems in overdrive

Hey guys, any ideas on what would cause a, I guess you would call it a surging or I guess it could evenbe a slipping sensation in overdrive at about 60 to 70 mph. Mainly on accleration, ( i downshift to 3rd) but also noticed it on the drive home tonight while at speed. Fluid level looks ok, does not...

Is this fuse located in the fuse panel under the hood? the only one I can find that looks remotely related to it is the ENG 1. Or is it another one?

Had mine repllaced a year and a half ago. Didn't have a garage or anyplace to do it, had to have it done. ($700 parts and labor)

They used the Delphi pump and have had no problems

Oh BTW, the guy I talked to at Oreilly said that they are not reccommending the E3 plugs for stock engines. By that he meant that unless you are running a modified air intake and exhaust system, (guessing more airflow?) the E3 plugs produce too hot a spark and can possibly burn a piston. Just wanted...

2000 silverado Fan clutch removal

I know this is a non Crew cab question but need your help. Got a friend witha 2000 silverado withthe 5.3. Needs to replace the water pump and needs to remove the fan clutch. The nut holding the fan clutch to the pump, are these reverse thread ?

Be warned though (as Henry J hinted but I think it's a very important point) ... do NOT lie directly below the filter as you are taking it off. Unless you really enjoy having fuel all over your face and the taste in your mouth. Guess how I know this :shock: :D DITTO. learned the hard way. :oops:

Looking to put a new set of wheels on the CC. Was wondering if any one had any favorites. I was partial to American Racing Equipment (worked there for 5 yrs) but don't really like the selection they have.

Take their advice on the rebuild/reman. I had mine rebuilt a couple years ago and one of the things replaced was a detonated sun-shell. And I do mean detonated! It is a weak spot. The sun shell went out on mine as well. Go for the rebuild. Peace of mind, warranty, ect, ect. Sucks paying out $1,800 ...

I have replaced the hardware kit on mine. New slides, clips, seals for the slides. Not a big deal to do. I do it on my truck and my wifes car every other brake job.

Don't risk buying one from NAPA. Their pumps are poor. Junk may be more appropriate. Buy Genuine AC Delco. Check Rockauto for good pricing. Spend a little more and do it once, or go cheap and replace it over and over. Couldn't agree more. I had to do mine last year. What sucked the most was I lived...

Ok, had the ABS module rebuilt, had the pump motor checked (ok) had the vehicle speed sensors replaced. STILL GETTING AN ABS LIGHT ON THE DASH. Yes I did have the codes cleared after each repair. My wife's malibu does the same thing. It's a design thing. Your brake lights override the hazard lights. Not an issue, just made that way.

Leak???

What would be leaking on the passenger side, just under the seat? Noticed a wet area on the torsion bar when I was changing oil.

Short on time and have not had time to look.

Brake lines? I know the fuel line runs down the driver side, but does the return line run down the pass. side?

Good idea anytime you do the brakes, to go ahead and get the hardware kit too, the good ones have all the pins, boots and seals you need.

How much of a bitch is the starter to replace ? Don't have access to a lift, can I do it on ramps or Jackstands.

On a side note, bought a house with 3 car garage, so NOW i have a place to work on the truck.

What is the towing capacity for a 2001 CC ?

It has a class 3 reciever hitch already installed.

Cat back systems

Thinking about upgrading the exhaust with a cat back system (don't have the skills, budget, place to work for a complete system) so I'll start there.

Friends are suggesting Gibson, Borla, Heartthrob, Dynomax, ect. Anyone have any preferences ?
