That's what I was wondering. Is it a bolt in to replace the 4wd front end suspension with 2wd components? Will 2wd components bolt on to the existing frame? If they do and I take out my transfer case do I need a custom driveshaft or a extended cab driveshaft? Just curious if anyone has done somethin...

I understand the difficulty of moving everything to a different frame. What components would need to be replaced on the front suspension? What about the transfer case? I'm just brain-storming to see what all would be involved. 95% of my driving is on the highway, but I love the room that the truck h...

2WD S10 CrewCab
Hey, I know that Chevy didn't make a 2WD Crew Cab, but what if someone wanted to. I was thinking about a project for one of these days about taking my 2001 crew cab body and placing it on a 2wd frame. Is this do-able?? What frame would I use Extended cab frame? How much trouble would it be? I think ...

I just got back from getting my estimate.......$1070.03 He put in to replace the following: Front Chrome bumper, impact strip, Left Headlight assembly, Grille assembly and lower air deflector....he didn't see anything bent underneath the bumper, just the left corner of the bumper itself. It may pull...

Hit a deer last night.........
I have a 2001 Crew and I hit a deer on the way home last night. My grill has shifted over to the left about 3 inches, the lower grill is busted and the left side of my bumper is pushed back into the wheel well about 3 inches and the bumper trim is popped off a little. The chrome part of the grill in...

Smoke from passenger side around transmission dipstick
Hello. I have been having a problem sometimes when I drive my truck. I have a 2001 S10 crew cab and occasionally when I drive it I will come to a red light or park it when I get home and smoke will come out from under the hood. I have opened the hood and it appears to be coming from around the trans...

Transmission slipping or engine surging
I have a 2001 crew cab and have been experiencing some transmission slippage or engine surging around 50 - 60 mph. It seems to shift through the gears correctly, but sometimes it acts like it is slipping out of gear and my rpms go up about 200 - 400 rpms. Is my transmission bad? Or something else. I...

You need a 36mm deep socket for the nut on the axle with a break-over bar. I also used a 18mm socket to get the bolts off for the capilar and the 3 bolts that hold the wheel bearing on. You will also need a 13mm socket and wrench, a 10 mm socket for the bolts that hold the ABS cable on. Some people ...

Ok. Thanks. I was thinking wheel bearing, but didn't know it was attached to the ABS.....does someone have a write up on how to replace the wheel bearing?? I have done brakes before and other things. Is it too complicated or special tools needed?? Also, I am looking to buy new rims, probably stay 15...

Hello. i have a 2001 S10 Crew Cab.....love the truck. Last night on the way home my ABS light came on and it seems that I have grinding noise coming from my front end. Thanks for the reply. When I bought the truck the guy had filled it up and reset the trip odometer. The low fuel light come on and I filled up with gas. My trip odometer showed 263 miles and it held 15.26 gallons. It averaged about 17.2 mpg. Some of that driving was at 70 or over(I drive 32 miles on...

New owner of S10CrewCab with questions
Hey guys, I'm a new owner of a pewter 2001 S10 Crew Cab. Absolutely love the truck. My wife and 3 daughters love it also. I have a couple of questions to start off with. How hard is it to add the Airbag on/off switch? Have a dealer install it or salvage yard do it yourself? Also, how much fuel do yo...
