I would guess because since the labor is the biggest part of the job they want to save people the hassle of tearing down again just to do the bearings. It should add only slightly to the total cost and time involved since it's being torn down already.

Pretty typical on Chevy trucks, I was quoted over $1000 from the dealer to rebuild mine on my 89 Silverado. I just kept a bottle of fluid around and topped it up till the truck died of old age, I figure I spent only $15 for 8 years so unless it's leaking a lot you could always go that route.

Pretty much standard. Many of us have had the same issues and they are well documented in other posts.
The rear breaks were junk on mine in less than 20K. With luck they got all the sludge out but to be sure I might get it changed again in a few hundred miles just to be safe.

I had my Tahoe slip off the jack this week when changing front shocks, Luckily I also always use my jack stands and it just fell the inch or so back to the stand that had already been placed.

I used a standard set of jack stands just in front of the spring mounts on the frame to lift the entire rear off the ground then used the jack under the rear diff to lift and adjust the rear axle as needed.

I love my ft8800 as well, having essentially 2 radios in one box is a great feature. I have mine set up so one side uses the internal speaker and the other side uses an external speaker so I can tell instantly which side is transmitting.

Since cold works so well to remove 3M tape using a can of dust off upside down might be a good way to remove adhesive. When sprayed upside down the propellant comes out and is well below freezing. Just keep your fingers protected cause it will freeze them as well.

Just for your info, take a look at my truck on my cardomain link in my sig line I have done just this level of mod to mine. I have rear shackles, Roadmaster suspension (another type of spring lift) and the front lifted with just the t-bars and am running 30x9.5x15 tires.

Come to think of it that's what the shop did to my 84 GMC Jimmy when we re geared with 4:11's ,when we set them up in the pumpkin they whined like a 6 year old in the candy isle who was just told no. They shimmed the pinion and no more noise. Good luck.

That's classic symptom of the resistor going bad it uses the resistor to provide a higher draw when the blower needs to run on high. Are you talking about the AC pulley under the hood? it's on a clutch and only engages as needed.

Any chance you just cleaned and re-oiled the K&N filter? Some of those codes can set if too much oil is on the filter and it is pulled into the MAF and intake.

According to what I was reading a SDM with crash data can not be used again until the unit crash data is removed. They are basically a one time use recorder that needs reprogramming or replacement after a crash. If you are going to that length might as well have someone with a scanner do the SIR res...

Looking on line at a few places it looks like the Tech II scanners are needed to reset the SDM when system parts are replaced. Hopefully changing out the unit will fix the ABS system but another warning is that when powering up SDM after replacement air bags have been known to deploy from a voltage ...
