i took it to the mechanics and had it scanned ... there is a misfire on the #1 cylinder . mechanic said my plugs are all in good codition , but the wire to #1 is fried . So . Update: I topped up the coolant in the tank and double check the rad to make sure it was full . squeezed the upper rad hose and burped out some air . started the engine and ran it untill it was warm , burped it gain and added some more coolant to rad and tank . I then drove it for about 60 miles and...

I have noticed the odd bubble the overflow tank when the engine is running . maybe 1or2 small bubbles every 20seconds .
i will get the system checked out .
The upper rad hose is firm , but i am still able to squeez it a bit . Before i changed the tstat , it was really soft .

considering i just changed the stat , I hope it is not faulty already .
The first day I installed the new tstat , i let it idle for 20mins and it reached 180 . today , it would not reach past the 1/4 mark on the gauge .

today the truck was running with the temp gauge around the 1/4 mark or slightly below when on the highway . The outside air temp was 60 degree f . I don't think getting the 180 tstat was a good idea , because i am running so cool now . I have not had any CEL , but running that cool can't be good ......

Figured out how to reattach the brace bar . Truck is running good with the new failsafe 180 degree tstat . Runs around 160 when driving around town , tstat opens when it should when idleing in heat .

I spent about 5 hours today trying to replace my tstat .... there is a support bar/brace that goes from the belt tensioner to the waterpump . I could not get the the nut off the tensioner side of the brace , so i ended up taking the other end of the bar off the waterpump. I had to bend it out in ord...

I was hoping that was not dexcrud .
The radiatior was replace 2 yrs ago , so atleast it is not old dexcool .

so this is the mid section of the heater hose . the metal pipe connects two hoses , one attached to the firewall , the other to the engine . the leak in the hose was so small I could not see it at first . then today , it finally popped and the hole was large enough to let more coolant out and it didn't evaporate before it hit the drive way .

I grabbed the front driveshaft and i was able to turn it by hand . so the 4x4 was NOT activated . Yeah !
Now on to the next issue ...

I tried check for wheel spin , too difficult to do from inside the truck . I guess I could put a mark with chalk on the transfer case axle and see if it is turning . Or is the axle always turning even when not in 4x4 ? I know it does with a "autotrac" transfer case , but what about with the 3 button...

Oh yes , it is expensive . For a complete Nitro setup , expect to be close to $1000 once the dust has settled . And $1000 is really easy to spend . some kits for onroad 1/8th go for $1000+ with no engine or tires , radio etc... It is more of an adult hobby . unless you want to pay for your kids gear...

Oh I agree it could be better too . Would be nice if it was easier to work on , got better mpg . But it is a time tested success . Is it just me or do we all feel nervous and anticipatory for the results of the mounting of these tires ?
