Re: Front Diff - How robust is it?

Keep in mind the autotrac transfercase has a viscous clutch system allowing it to slip inside the transfercase. Ours is direct. No give at all. 97-older Bravadas had the viscous clutch transfer cases, made by Borg Warner. Model 4472, IIRC. Basically the same t-case that was used in the Cyclone/Typh...

Re: Front Diff - How robust is it?

The Bravadas use the same CV axles as the 4wd's do, and they don't seem to have any higher CV failure rate. If the transfer case is disengaged, there's really no significant difference in work load on the CV's wether the front front axle is engaged or not, as long as its a stock open front different...

Just FYI, all 2003-up 4.3's come factory equipped with the "upgrade"

For 2003, the LU3 engine replaced the L35. The key change for the LU3

Re: stock front stabilizer bar diameter?

thanks for the info HenryJ.
i knew it was larger than my Ext. Cab,
i just didnt think it was that much bigger.
some GM's do have hollow swaybars.
some C4 Corvettes definetly had them.
in fact, i traded for a set for my 86 Vette.
they weigh about a third of what the
original Z51 bars weigh.

on a 2001-later model, a 170 stat will set the low coolant temp code. on my 2000, it has been through a week of daily driving with the 140, and still no code set.... as for cat failure, i really dont see how that would happen. the engine consistently goes into closed loop at 133 deg., and remains th...

i`ve installed a 140 deg. marine thermostat in my truck, just to experiment with it...

stays right around 140 at night, but during the day (80 degrees), it slowly works up to around 155, or so...
but my fans are operating at very low speed... wired in parallel, drawing only 3.4 amps...

so they do actually exist... i take it they are fairly rare though? another question... did they use a normal 2WD transmission? and if so, did a one piece driveshaft clear the torision bar crossbeam? or did they require a two piece shaft, or some kind of special extension housing to take the place o...
I believe they used the same frame and all, i can't imagine them designing a new frame for two years of production. They probably just modified the knuckles to fit the 2wd bearings.
i agree. i think they might have used the wheel bearing hubs from std. 2WD Blazers... for some rea...

interesting... was it a 4WD frame/suspension minus the front axle and transfer case? or was on a 2WD chassis?
did they still have the 31X10.5" tires?

any other details you have on them?

thanks.

2004 Blazer ZR2... available in 2WD???

i have a 2004 Blazer sales brochure, and in no less than 3 different places, it claims that the ZR2 models were available as either 2WD, or 4X4... i have also seen this stated on s10extremist.org http://www.s10extremist.org/tech_articles/zr2_comparison.htm did a 2WD version of the ZR2 package actual...

finally got new tires, and wheels...

i got Cooper Discoverer H/T`s 255-70-15`s. they are 29.0" tall, and i forget what the advertised tread width is, but they are noticeably wider than the original Goodyear Wrangler 235-75-15`s... $92.50 each. not too bad. i also had an alignment done. i dont think these are considered all terrains, bu...

the injectors on these engines are fairly well acoustically isolated inside the manifold. what is common on these engines, is a slight ammount of valvetrain ticking. not sure why, but it seems that alot of GM engines, most notably, the 3.8 Buicks, the 4.3 and LSx (GEN3) engines seen to have alot of ...

its not a true "locker"... it only engages and disengages a clutch pack. it`s a "limited slip" when "locked", and basically a std., open diff. when not "locked"... Govloc`s will freewheel like an open diff. when the rear wheels are off the ground. take the wheels off, and spin one axle, and the othe...

another update: i bled the gas charge out of my new shocks, to soften them more... it helped out some. i cut a small opening in the the splash guard tube, then use a dremel tool with a cutting wheel to cut a small vertical "groove" in either the very top or bottom of the rod. when you compress the s...

well, if you can find a used TB for cheap, cut the "cresent" portion of the diffuser off with a Dremel tool, clean it up good, and swap it out for your original TB... if you dont like it, you can easily switch back.
