Re: My Crew Cab project
It will, you can cut it down to fit however long you want it to. Lots of guys do that to put roof racks on their non-zr5 crews, or even on extended cab trucks (seen lots on zr2's). the ends come off and you cut the rails to what length you want, throw the ends back on and bolt it down.

Re: 01 crew cab dies randomly
If I were in the states with my truck, i would measure for you... but I'm not. Just get a section as long as the one you cut out. Auto-zone will have pipe sections and clamps if you want a 1-stop shop. Or you could get a piece from an exhaust place much cheaper I believe. If you have a sawzall or a ...

If you don't mind changing out balljoints with every other oil change... and waiting for your CV's to die... you can get 2" no problem. I have a ZR2 that had 210k on it. I cranked the t-bars to level with my 2" lift shackles... one of my CV's died immediately and my balljoints need to be changed eve...

Re: 01 crew cab dies randomly
i agree with HenryJ. Exhaust clamps work well for temp stuff... put in a replacement pipe and clamp it in and get a shop to weld it in later when you have cash. Better to have a running and reliable truck I think.

Re: I got another crew...
I have thought about that for a long long time (started really looking into military trucks because of the m109a2) but tent camping is just more fun for myself and the kids when they grow up. And it gives me an incentive to build the zr2 big enough to crawl on the back of it to haul... hahahaha Oh, ...

I'm a kool-aid drinking s-series guy... I have 3 of them and have been driving them for years... but I needed a tow rig for the Noma. I couldn't just get a regular truck, thats boring and not an s-series... so I started looking at 2.5 ton and 5 ton military trucks... got close to getting a 2.5 ton, ...

I saw a bad cat once that would glow red-hot where you could see the glow at night after driving for a while... The operator put the truck through hell daily, so I wouldn't think yours would be that bad... I am still amazed his was that bad.
Hope you have this figured out soon. let us know!

Re: 01 crew cab dies randomly
These engines only like the regular fuel pressure and they constantly run like they are bogging down and are powerless if the fuel pressure is off. To me it sounds like a bad cat. If its not that, I would recommend a basic tune up with high quality plugs, wires, cap, and rotor then go from there. Wh...

Re: doubler questions
I plan on using ford kingpin 60. I dabble I military vehicles so getting my hands on some H1 rim with bead lock inserts should be really easy. Then I can recenter them and go from there. The truck will be a trailer queen so vss, abs, etc... doesn't matter. Post. Some pics and info of your pillaging!...

Your crew is 5-speed, right? You won't have to worry about the tranny going stupid.. right?
I might message him and see what the issue was and how he fixed it.

Good info!
Are you saying the 233 has the 6-gear planetary and the 231 does not? Is it necessary to put in the planetary gears in the 231? What does it have for reduction right now?
I may be totally lost... let me know if I am. haha.

Re: doubler questions
That is exactly what I am thinking about doing, except leaving the 233 where it is and cutting/fabbing it and placing the 231 behind it because it already has the fixed front yoke (super budget!!!). If I was in Texas I would go see if my 231c has neutral or not. I don't remember there being a neutra...

I'm guessing there will be no problems running a 31" on ZR2 axle width with the boise Springworks kit on the rear?

Re: doubler questions
Yeah, I will need to fab up an adapter plate to slide the two cases together and chop off half of the case to clear for the front output of the 231. I know a doubler isn't a huge advantage for an automatic compared to a stick, but I feel it will make wheeling a little easier on my tranny and be fun ...

Hey everybody, I have tons and tons of experience in running larger tires on a ZR2 and regular 4wd blazers (95 and 04). What I don't have experience in is ZR5's. I know 31's (Goodyear Wrangler Authority Wally-Word Specials) can fit on a blazer with a little massaging with a big hammer on stock wheel...

doubler questions
4 years ago I moved overseas and parked the Z. Before I did that, i picked up a 231C with a floor shifter for close to nothing and planned on swapping that in the Z one day and doing a mild SAS to keep it road friendly. I am moving back this summer and the Z will never see the road again. So my ques...

Hey guys, I know that a ZR2 axle is a direct bolt-up with the exception of not using the truck's pan-hard bar unless you build your own frame mount... and all that stuff... But I want to know yall's opinions on my situation. I have a 03 ZR5 with 138,000 miles and a bad rear bearing... possibly more,...

I guess that answers my question. The 1st gen had the larger center hub so 2nd gen wheels would need to be bored out to fit.
Thank Blaz!

I know, Stucky said 5x4.5 I know the lug pattern is 5x4.75 but I also know either 1st gen or 2nd gen s-series had a larger center hub so wheel swapping required a bit of modification (bore out the center hole) but I can't find which ones had the larger hub. Yeah, I'm not in America and I don't have any wheels to compare to.
The rims I am thinking about are stock 4x4 wheels from GM that were offered from the 80's until the mid 90's. I am pretty sure they will fit but wanted to know if anyone knew off the top of their head.
