Caliper is no good.
E-brake is good, no dragging there.
Lesson learned here is that I should have inspected the caliper closer when I was changing the slider pins.

One of the slide pins was frozen. After soaking with solvent I could not move the pin. Eventually I located a caliper mounting bracket at an auto parts store. Pulled the brakes apart to grease the slide pins. From what I gather the rear caliper slide pins are attached to the disc brake caliper mounting bracket and this pin has small rubber boot on it. Yes?

The shift points that I adjusted were very minor -3 or -4 I believe. I never adjusted the shift points in an attempt to remove the searching. My assumption is the higher line pressure in the transmission was the culprit.

Solenoid Valve on the EVAP vent valve is probably the culprit. I recenlty had the same issue and replaced the solenoid valve.

Vortec Ignition Problems
I found this article on the web that talks about known issues with the Vortec ignition. It helped give some insight why the CC's distributor cap lasted only ~20k miles.
