They did away with the AWD, from what I understand, to many problems with the front drive train. It is a 2WD truck sitting on a 4x4 chassis and lowered 1" in front and 2" in back from a regular 4x4. The truck hauls though, much nicer ride than the crew had.

I have an add-a-leaf on the rear so it looked funky with the factory rake plus another 1.5" in the rear. Just watch the boots, I had a couple come off that I got fixed when it was still under warranty. The drivers side one seems to be the one that is the biggest problem.

As for 31's, mine rub also at full lock. It is really not a problem unless you use your 4wd a lot, then your steering jerks when the tires hit. I am going to replace my tires after the first of the year, I am dropping back to 30's at that time.

I had a bed bolt come loose also. The only thing I have noticed is once in a while it I turn to full lock and I am moving with a good rate of speed, like in making a right turn, I hear a thud, but it may be my tires hitting the sway bar, so I don't think it has anything to do with the BL.

Check the CV joints for leaks in the boot, if you have one they will replace the entire CV joint. I also had a problem with the rear pinion seal around that time, check for a leak there.

Steering Problems

Steering on truck has been slowly becoming stiff, and sometimes when you turn it feels like it is trying to pull back to straight. Any ideas what is going on? Checked the power steering fluid already and it is good.

The BL should not void the warranty. I have had by CV joints and ball joints replaced post BL and they were covered. To avoid a hassle with the dealer though, I put my stock wheels and tires back on and take of my 31's before taking it in.

The rear seal leak, I have had mine replaced twice.

Genuine Steel makes a grill guard that can be cut and welded to fit a truck with a 2" BL. That is what I have on mine right now. Cut it even with the front of the frame and in front of the bracket and weld it back up, I raised mine 1-1/2" but could have got 2" if I wanted to.

I have a feeling the ignition module was also bad since it kept stalling at stop lights, that stopped when I got it back the first time. It is possible I had both problems going on at the same time. Either way, I am happy it is fixed.

I have had the gas guage problem since I have had the truck and lived with it, I just use my tripometer to tell me when to fill the truck. This week, however, the gas guage has been going nuts. It either reads completely full or completely empty. Any ideas what is causing that?

I have the spacers from the Guage Store and have had no problems with them. When I called him up I refered to the GP they had previous and he knew exactly what I needed. They threw in the lug nuts also, think I spent around $110 for the pair.

I went on E-Bay and bought a pair of 889's with the Xenon gas for around $17. I believe the 881's and 889's are interchangeable. Either way, I have them and Silverstars in the headlights and they look fine.

By comparison, I only got about 30,000 out of the front pads on my old 97 ext cab. Disks all the way around makes a big difference.

In Texas I believe you can only legally go 35% on the side windows and 20% on the rear. When I had my 2 front door windows done they used the high quality metalized tint, that tint does a good job helping keep the inside cool.

I got my grill guard from 4 Wheel Parts, it is made by Genuine Steel and is a simple bolt on. It is also easy to modify for a 2" body lift by cutting and rewelding the mounting brackets on the bottom. Hope that helps.

That happened to mine but when it went out I was stuck in 4HI. I finally got it back into 2HI by letting it coast in neutral and hitting the button. After that, it would not go back into 4HI at all. Turned out to be a bad encoder motor. Had it fixed under warranty.

I have a Pro Comp add a leaf on my truck and I got the low end, about 1.5" out of mine. You will notice a significant amount more stiffness in the rear of the truck than the front of the truck. Driving light replacement

Thanks Doc, that is what I did. I replaced my driving light 881's with a pair of 889's with the Xenon gas on E-Bay for $17 shipped. From what I understand, the 881's and 889's are interchangeable. Those in combination with my Sylvania Silverstars, WOW what a difference.
