Interesting. What are the splice packs for? Con Generally they are just a point where grounds join for a common ground, or wires get split from 1 into two or three wires and continue on. There arent any connections that can be made to these, they are just for ease of instalation by the factory.

yes, the front axle or transfer case disengages once in a while and the horrible grinding noise happens. Unless you have a tech 2 and the latest updates of GM's TIS program, you won't be able to do this fix without the dealer. The holes are on the outside of each bearing cap. If you were to imagine a centerline that runs horizontal through the rear end then you would see the 2 holes I'm talking about. I had a problem with mine at 10,000km's. The engine would rev to about 2500 and then the transmission would grab. They couldn't figure out what it was, they replaced the valve body and various other parts. That didn't work, they ended up replacing the entire thing, housing and all which is very rare...

My 2000 ext cab 4x4 came with a temp spare too, I felt ripped off, but they are the same diameter/height as your stock tires. Just remember to always put the spare on the front even if it means moving a good front to the back in the event of a flat. The locker in the back will start to eat itself up...
