Re: Gas Tank Replacement
The tank is buried up in the body near the actual fuel door, instead of between the frame rails. Henry, thanks for the link..........it takes an experience junky pro to know stuff like this. I actually got a quote from a dealer for the tank......new......$586 dollars, and they would order it......it...

Re: Gas Tank Replacement
That link brings me to a stock tank, unfortunately it's the crew cab tank that I might need, and it seems they are scarce as hen's teeth.
The guy I use to do complex mechanical things says he cannot find one "new"....that my best bet is to check junkyards?

Gas Tank Replacement
I've been dealing with some evap codes relating to the gas tank....found the gasket on the cap dry and cracked......so I'm hoping it's an easy one. But, in all the research I have been looking into, it seems no one sells replacement tanks? Is that possible? I've heard about some plastic replacement ...

No Heat
As much as everyone has been talking about hot feet and such, I wish that were my problem. That's because I have no heat at all. I have a 2002 crewcab, with the V6, so my question has a couple parts. What actually diverts the hot water into the heater core, or is that constant with the air flow bein...

read the thread, now I need an answer
Most times when my blower is set on 1, I feel now air being pushed through. So I use 2 most of the time. Just the other day when I started the truck and drove off, I started to smell that scary burning electrical smell. I switched the fan to 4, the smell went away. When I went back to 2 everything w...

Had the same problem in my LR Discovery. I had a small leak in the heater core, which allowed air to enter the closed system. It sounded like I had gallons of water loose under the dashboard. Pressure check the cooling system, then start checking for leaks, loose clamps, etc. In the LR I had to comp...

Tire sizing
Don't yell, I did many searches looking for the info and was put in so many other categories and threads, but none seemed to give me the answer I seek. So here goes. I'm not planning on doing any lifting....right now. Although I probably will be adding some sort of helper at the rear to allow me to ...

another idea
Having the same problem, I took the door off to find the spring and latch? tiny piece of metal had rusted and broken on one side. Guess this might be how most fuel door covers are designed to work, but it seems an awful way to do it. To keep from going the $50 dollar/paint can route, I had a bunch o...

fuel mileage
I've been keeping a record of my mileage since I got my 2002 CC. As of right now most of the driving has been highway, with the A/C on (and windows up..duhh!) I have done a small amount of city stuff, and carrying some heavy (free) oak logs as well. Most of the highway stuff was 65-70 mph. I don't h...

fog light housing removal
Here's a good one. I was reading here about fog lamp replacement, and since I've found one of mine not working......well here we go! I got the headlamp housing out, no problem. At least it's not as fragile as the plastic tabs on my Aztek, which I broke  Then I figured out the squeeze locking t...

Goo Gone
I use a product called Goo Gone for many different sticky tape situations. I would caution that being neat is a positive, and make sure you keep it off painted surfaces.
As has been inferred on this forum a number of times, do the job right, keep it clean, and remember, you have to live with it.

gas filler cover
Not a big modification, but just the same. The spring? mechanism for the gas filler cover is rusted and broke. While I'm not really a fan of the chrome replacement covers, it might just be a better alternative to the $175 the dealer wants for a color matched new one. Any opinions on a good one? I lo...

I WAS a mechanic in a previous life....that was well before valves and sensors, and pollution controls. You know, when you could stand inside the engine bay and still changed the spark plugs without removing half the engine! I still do lots of my own work, but with the complexity of engine managemen...

Yeah.....about maintenance items...coming from a 97 Land Rover Discovery maintenance isn't something I am looking towards.......just yet! Not that I' the gambling sort, but I bought the truck over the internet, sight and seat time unseen. Ok, so I am the gambling sort. I spoke to the previous owner ...

Another CC, and it's new owner!
Well folks, I took the plunge, and I am looking forward to it being a good one. I purchased a pristine 2002 CC with just over 100k on the odometer. In a previous life I had a S-15 standard cab which was great fun, but used mostly on the road. This little beauty will be used to transport my family, o...
