Ours is 7.625" (7 5/8 ) GM 10 bolt It is the same cover as the older 7.5" GM 10 bolt. These were used in the Astro, Safari, Camaro, S-series, etc. There may be differences in seals and bearings between the two. Check out the thread on the correct gasket to use. Holes or slots for oiling the differe...

So I go into advanced auto to get a rear wheel seal. They can not tell me what size seal or diff gasket I need unless I tell them the ring gear size. All I knew was I have 3.42 gears. Tried searching, does anyone know what size I have? Or is more info needed?

I didnt think that the parking brake was attached to the brake line assembly in any way. :?: Was I wrong? Or has anyone else has a simmar leak? I have not taken the wheel off yet, and probably wont...

GREASE EVERYWHERE!!!!
So I went to change my oil, started looking around while it was draining and saw that both of my lower control arms had grease on inside of them. Not just a little, but a lot. I have never seen so much grease! Anyway, I checked the CV boots, and nether seem to be loose or ripped. Has anyone had an e...

If your truck is rusty you need to do your best to seek out lubricant for the threads. Sure it will also help at the bolt head too. Pulling carpet and body plugs might seem like a pain now, but better than breaking bolts. An impact helps rattle the rust loose. It can be helpful if you have it avail...

Soak them daily for longer if, need be. Trust me, it works! I successfully did many mods or repairs on a 16 yr old POS heep without breaking a fastener but, it may happen tomorrow on a 7 yr old cc. Eyes wide open is what I like things to be. So I should just soak what I can see under the truck, rig...

Spraying carb cleaner works too. I always heard 10 years was all the law required for parts, but not from a solid source. I recently found Ford parts discontinuted and no longer available for a 2001 model. Nothing aftermarket either. Had to build all the engine compartment wiring from scratch. :sho...

Given what you've replaced have you checked the vac pod on the front axle shift. It can act that way if the pod comes loose from it's mounting bracket or the bracket comes loose from the fender or if the shift cable hangs up preventing full engagement of the front differential. Trust me on this I'v...

I haven't heard anything specific, but those off-road company type tires (Mickey Thompson, etc.) are more for purpose built trail rigs, so long-term durability and tread-wear is often poor. IMHO. You raise a good point, sir. I knew a few of my friends had them on their jeeps and whatnot, and they l...

I have heard rumors that if you replace your stock head unit with the same exact stock head unit, you have to have something in the truck reprogramed in order for it to accept the new head unit. does anyone know if this is true? Thanks

My driver side headlamp assembly. For some reason, my high beams are pointed at the same spot where my low beams are, so when i turn them on, it just shines right where the lows shine. anyone had a similer experiance?
Thanks

encoder motor/transfer case motor
Hey guys. Just signed up to your sight. Quick qestion:
I was browsing through 4x4 problems(because i have one), and noticed that the term "encoder motor" was used a lot. Is this another term for transfer case motor? I ask because I can not find part info on a encoder motor.
thanks
JP
