Crew Cab bed question

Post by Miles »

What is the length of the Crew Cab bed? I was under the impression that it was a 5' foot bed in contrast to the 6' bed of a standard S-10 short box. However, I have recently learned that it is actually a 4.5' bed?! Which is it?

I am in the planning stages of a fairly serious S-10 Crew Cab build, and this info is quite pertinent. Part of the build incorporates building a custom bed out of a standard fleet side short box. It will be bobbed in the front & rear equally, to match the overall dimensions of the factory Crew Cab box. The WB will be lengthened via 4-link suspension to match up with the new location of the wheel wells. Overall length of the truck will remain identical to a factory Crew Cab or X-cab S-10. Departure angle has a lot to do with the reasoning of why.

That tells me the inner floor length. What is the outer length of the bed, from the front side to the tailgate?

55.2" is 4' 7 3/16"... so with the added width of the tailgate and sheet metal at the front of the box, i'd say it's probably something like 4'10"

Thanks Jigg! I knew what that converted out to, but was curious as to the exact outer dimensions. No biggee though. I'll more than likely own a CC before the end of 3rd quarter this year, so I can get the exacts then.

Thanks for the replies!
