Fenders

I was wondering if there is any differance in fenders from year to year or standerd cab to crew or ZR5.
The reason I ask is my truck was hit in the front fender and has been fixed but it seems like the replacement fender (off of an 03) dosn't seem to fit right around the head light.

The body shop may have used an aftermarket fender. Insurance companies love to take the cheap way out. Usually most aftermarket body panels don't fit very well, and almost always require extra work to get them looking right. And sometimes the body shop folks may go the extra mile.

I have an 02 CC and I was told that the fender was off of an 03.
The body shop told me that he would rather use used parts than aftermarket because of the fit. That is why I was wondering if there is a difference in fenders.

From my understanding, the front fenders from '98 to '04 were all the same. Seems like the body shop just did a poor job lining the new one back up. If that's the case, they should be fixing that for you free of charge. Do you have a picture of your truck?

The strange part is all of the other seams look good. It's just around the headlight like the top outside. i'm going to the body shop tonight or tomorrow night. I was told that there is a life time guarantee on any thing they did.

maybe its not the fender might be the headlight needs adjusted or something else got bent that wasnt fixed

I suspect that the light assembly may not be installed correctly.

Lift the retaining clips and remove the headlight assembly.

Now make sure the bottom slides into the clip/retainer correctly. It takes a little finesse to get it to slide down and in properly. It is easiest to do with the grille off, and I suspect it was installed after the grille.

I think a search here will find a reference to the headlamp misalignment.
This happened to mine and I drove it for nearly a week before noticing.

I don't think the headlight is in wrong. I have had it in and out several times. I know what you mean about finesse what a pain. The light assembly is aftermarket and it seem like the rubber around it is thicker.

Oops, sorry that is a Sonoma. The troubles I have seen were S-10 problems.
You'll have to look the the GMC guys for assistance.

Hey high-voltage, I had a problem with my light. The little guide tabs that hold the bottom of the headlight in weren't lined up correctly. It was a mo-fo, but with patience it went right in. Try to check that. There might be a little play if you push the headlight. Hope this helps.

Could it be that they used an S-10 fender? I know we use different bumpers and headlight/grill facias, but not sure if we also use the same fenders.

I am pretty sure we all use the same fenders, it would have cost GM to make different fenders. IMO

from the pic it looks like the side of the light closest to the fender is sunk back

I have the side adjustment to the left just about all the way to have the light aimed correctly.
The part i'm concerned with the most is the top corner.

is the light aimed to high if so this will cause the top to be off
they are not going to be exact from side to side do to the light adjustment

The light is aimed correctly. There is just a big gap at the outside top corner were the light goes.
Do you think the aftermarket light is the problem?

very well could be pull it and measure it against the stock light or try putting the stock 1 back in unless it was damaged in the crash
