As far as I know the tonneau cover is stock with the zr-5 package, thats why it has zr-5 emblazoned on the cover itself. I could be wrong on this but I am not sure.

That's a first. I bet the owner had it custom done on an aftermarket cover.

Definitly stock cover, covered under factory warranty when a part was missing when I bought it. Parts in stock for replacement from gm warehouse
E95 Tonneau Cover, ZR5 Soft
Not available with Aluminum Bed Extender $339 Appears to be a dealer installed option add on for the zr-5 crew not part of the basic package. Am I the only one with one of these covers?

Am sure HJ or some of the more senior members have heard of them but, I never ran accross any posts about them. It definitely wasn't part of the package. They kept taking features away from the package in '03 and '04

the tonneau cover is an option for the crewcab. the dealer may have it installed and call it "stock"!! and... if you get the cover, or an option, when you buy the vehicle new...it is covered by the 36/36000 waranty. if you add it on after you buy the truck...it's covered 12 months.

Didn't know there was even an option for that. Haven't seen that one listed anywhere. Guess they ordered a bit of an odd mix and didn't get some of the things that would have made more sense like the locking rear end to go with the tow package that is installed and the engine block heater which I think should be required in all cold weather states.

What is the RPO designation for the cover?

Any GM part that you get from them and have installed by the dealer gets covered under the factory waranty. example- tonneu, tow package, nerf bars

There was a dealer installing lifts too. Would they also be covered?

If it was a GM listed part installed by the dealer at the time of original purchase I think it would have to be under the manufactures warranty.

I suppose if the lift were A GM offered part, it would be covered by the warranty.

There are several GM and Ford dealers around here who sell new trucks with lift kits already installed and they are definitely covered by the factory warranty. One thing I have noticed is that the dealers charge a lot more for a new truck with a lift installed. Most of the dealers around here add like $6k to $10k to the sticker price, which is way overpriced, but maybe that's how they are able to offer the same factory warranty on the extra parts.
