HA HA HA... you might as well have asked what color our trucks are. The replies would have been more consistent.

Both of the topics you present are almost infinately variable.

Gas mileage varies on numerous factors; tire pressure, ambient temperature, weight of the driver, and this list could go on for days. There's really no such thing asa "stock mileage". The only consistent number related to your question might be that all of our stock fuel tanks hold 17.5 gallons but even that varies. Air pressure and temperature affect the volume of gasoline. Also, I'm not sure if anyone has actually measured but there were metal tanks in 2001 and the early part of 2002, followed by plastic/composite tanks in later models. There may or may not be slight variations in tank wall thickness and/or capacity.

"Stock Height" is something of a misnomer as well. there are several discusions in this forum about trucks that sit less than plumb and level. minor vaiations in torsion bars, body panel installation, tire wear, how much wiper fluid is in the resevior, etc can lead to widely varying measurements.

That being said, these are two topics that come up A LOT here. Everyone thinks the "stock truck" is too high or too low and I think we're all in agreement that the driving range on a tank of gas is too low at any mpg.

I get anywhere between 325-350 +/- some due to how far i put my foot into the pedal. I usually set cruise at 60 35mile drive one way to work. My truck is pretty stock. Hope this helps

I don't know about height as I have a 2" body lift, cranked torsion bars, and 31" tires, but my gas mileage has always been horrible, even when my truck was bone stock. I have ONCE gone over 250 miles on a single tank. Most times I get 200-210. And I consider myself a fairly conservative driver. Same as above, cruise set at 60-65 for a 15 mile one way drive to work everyday.... Maybe it's the hills around here :P

Is this actual mileage or theoretical mileage? What I mean is have you actually gone 350 miles on the trip odometer before refueling, or did you estimate mileage by taking a recent mileage check of say 20 mpg and multiplying by 17.5 gallons to get the 350 miles? Also as barch97 asked, what rear end ratio do you have (3.42 or 3.73)? :)

Last time I filled up, I ran 300 miles on 18 gal of fuel, a combination of city and highway.

Well I guess I estimated my milage. I seem to be a little high compared to everyone else. I just added up the milage to and fro work and i know i can Drive there and back 5 times but then my gas light is soon to be on. Plus i drive around town too during the week so. I guess I had actually better fill-up set my odometer and check it by actual milage rather than theoretically guessing. Sorry all will report in when i get the info back. I am not sure the rear end ratio either, whatever comes stock i assume.

Stock could be 3.42, 3.73, or 4.10. Most CC's seem to have the 3.73 ratio. There's a post somewhere around here with the RPO codes that tell you how to decipher the codes in the glovebox to find out about your ratio, locker, etc...

yeah, definately try the trip-odometer. 350 is A LOT of miles for a crewcab with either rearend.

both gear ratios are "stock". I believe however that the 3.73 was more common in 2001 and early 2002. And the 2003 and 04 almost all had 3.42. you can find out by reading the RPO code on the inside of your glove compartment.

Here's the magic decoder key
G80 Axle Positraction Limited, Slip

GT4 Axle Rear 3.73 Ratio (Dup with 5X1)

GT5 Axle Rear 4.10 Ratio (Dup with GT8)

GU4 Axle Rear 3.08 Ratio

GU6 Axle Rear 3.42 Ratio
I believe there's also a x/w digit in the vin number that identifies the gear ration as well. or maybe that's something entirely different.

Anyway, the reason I ask, is that the 3.42 will result in less power transferred to the wheels but increased fuel efficiency. while the 3.73 does the opposite. the 3.42 gears may be the difference in your +/-325 miles per tank and the more common <300.

Mine says GT4. Therefore I have 3.73 gear ratio. I will check my milage and do it right. I am most likely wrong. Thats what I get when I ass u me some thing huh?

yeah, there's been a lot of discussion about the accuracy of our fuel gauges as well. In most cases the top half lasts a WHOLE LOT longer than the bottom half. So, estimating mileage for a full tank based on the observations of a 1/2 or even 3/4 tank is a bit inaccurate.

I have a 1999 4dr 4x4 Blazer , with 3.73 gearing , and no fuel filter change since new , or tune up and it has 80,000 miles on it ( 15500kms) , I get around 310kms to a tank , ( until low fuel light comes on , and even then i have about 20Litres left in the tank .)
So in other words ....
I get about 192 MILES to the Tank , but I also have about 5 gallons left in the tank when i go and refuel .
I think i figured it out to be ( on a long 1000kms round trip ) i get about 13-14mpg CITY and 17mpg highway .
But like i said , i am need a tune up .

I think the tank is a little larger in the 4dr blazer. our crewcabs are 17.5 gallons.

I just filled up last night 268.8 mis. 13.8 gals. = 19.47 mpg. That's about normal for me. On a good tank a little over 20mpg. usually just a little under. Kroger gas, I'm getting it for $2.03/gal.
03 stock cc. Ventshades on all 4 windows. 25 mis. one way to work - 5 mis. county road to a 15 mi. ride on the Interstate then another 5 mis. of "city" driving.
I do try to keep my foot "out of it". I may have used the 4wheel drive for a couple of short distances on this tankful, though...

I suspect that this difference could be attributed to driving technique. Pedal to the floor for a tank and you're lucky to make 200 miles. CC set at 2000rpm and you'll crack the 300 mile mark.

i im pretty sure 4 door blazers came with 18 gal tanks. mine had a huge dent in it so im guessing its probably lost like a gallons worth of space. but i get about 170-180 miles out of a tank.

I've tried everything. I don't consider myself to be a heavy footed driver. I've even tried using my cruise to and from work for a tank, set at 50MPH! Nothing changes  I think I got 14 MPG when I set the cruise. I've had everything checked that can be checked.....maybe my truck is just cursed

i went over 300 once or twice, mostly interstate, but since i put on my Maxxis Mudders (30's) i have been lucky to get anywhere near 275, and that is with the light on praying to see any kind of gas station, that is gonna be a little off though because of the tire size difference, lately i have started paying attention to the road side speed signs (which by the way are usally wrong, but i am hoping that Florida HWP keeps them pretty accurate being that they are set up in a construction zone) usally the speed sign says i am going slower than what my speedo says i am, usally no more than 2 or 3 mph off though, so not real sure what difference that makes

I just went to Mammoth mountain for a long ski weekend. It's about 300 miles up there. I got 15.5 mpg on the way up and that was doing mostly 80-90 mph. On the way back I kept it on cruise control most of the way and did about 72 mph and got 17 mpg. I should say that my truk isn't quite stock :D

hehehe, you guys sure do make me feel better about my truck :D
Freeway(75MPH) or city(stop and go) i get 12-14
highways i can squeek out 16 (60MPH)

I'm usually filling back up around 210-250<-at most.
most recent trip 130 miles freeway each way i was in 3rd gear almost constantly fighting a head wind. averaged 13 going down and 11 coming back :?

when i stay at school i dont measure my truck in MPG, i prefer WPT (weeks per tank) cause i only put like 40 miles on if i don't go home or to see my girl

Got gas today after the first week at my new job. 264.7 miles and got 14.575 gallons to fill the tank, for 18.16mpg with just under three gallons left in the tank I should have been able to push it to 317 miles on fumes. I am running 3.73 gears with hppIII set for 87 and running 89 in the tank. Just have a t-bar crank and the roadmaster suspension in the rear. Note that this way highway driving at 55mph mostly in cruise, RPM around 1600 and running studded snow tires. Short trips are killers I drop to as little as 12 in really cold weather and barely break 16mpg all winter. I have gotten as high as 20.39mpg on one trip from VT to NY at Christmastime Allmost all interstate at 70MPH on cruise.
