running warm

Post by T-bone02 »

I've had my crew for about 2 months now. During hot days when im in city traffic my crew sometimes runs up above normal, around the 210or220 range. As soon as I hit the open highway it cools down. Anybody else with this problem. I d like to get one of the 180 degree thermostats youll talk about but curious if it will hurt my gas milage?

I have a 180° T-Stat and it hasn't hurt my mileage but, I still ran hot on very hot days when I was stopped or in traffic.

I moved up to a larger radiator and it helped but, on hot days in traffic jams it would still get warmer than I prefer.

I'm looking at the electric fan option now. HJ has one but, I am interested in seeing how it would do in heavy traffic on a plus 95° day.

I am also using the 180* t-stat and my CC runs between 175*-190* in normal weather, but above 90* my truck also runs hot in stop and go traffic. I really hate it when the fan is on constantly in hot weather. An electric fan seems to be the only cure for this problem. :)
