Dex-cool approved?

Post by NTXCrew »

I saw some Prestone GM Dex-cool approved anti-freeze in the Autozone add from Thursday....what's that? Is it Dex-cool? Is it better? It's $8.99/gal.

There a few companies making "Dex-like" extended life coolants. (Cat, Prestone,Havoline...)

From rumors that I've heard, GM is now using Prestone , or was it Havoline? , and is discontinuing the manufacture of GM's Dexcool.

Personally, I think it is just a way to limit their liability for the problems Dex has caused.

Hope you didn't think GM actually made the Dex ;) You just won't be seeing the "GM Dexcool" anymore is what I heard.

Yep, just a different label if they are using Prestone. Any other brand is just "compatible", and may gel a little unless you are doing a full flush and fill with the new fluid.
