ASE TEST

Post by rlrnr53 »

The WV DOH in its infinite wisdom has all the DOH mechanics taking the ASE Certification tests. Mind you, we are jacks of all trades and masters of none. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my test score for the first required test, Suspension and Steering. I ended up with a score of 34 out of 40 questions. I was surprised because I do very little in the way of suspensions and about the same in the steering area out side of drag links, tie rod ends and an occasional steering box.

Congrats :)

The ASE certifications are kind of a "joke" around here  "Paid the ten bucks, and bought a patch." is what a few of us say
The tests are mostly common sense and some knowledge. They are a good key that opens doors. I have more than a few certifications. I probably should buy a patch :?:

Do not take this as belittling the certification. Knowledge is power, and that certification gives you power. Just don't let it go to your head ;)

Well done!

I wouldn't even have taken the test if it came out of my pocket, but since the DOH is footing the bill for the test and materials, i figured I might as well try.

If somebody else is paying, I will try and certify in anything an everything.

Nuclear Physics anybody?
Actually, I might be able to pass that one, just don't ask me to pass 10th grade english again. Noun, adverb, whats that?

Regardless of my previous advice/comment, I turned down the opertunity to get my ASE counterman certification, but in that one I turned it down because I knew I was leaving the company and I didn't want my workplace to pay for a test that would not do them any good (I respected them a WHOLE lot).

Anyways, congrats, and isn't it funny what some of us (and some more than others) consider general knowledge is actually enough to get you certified!

Congrats.
