prem. $ 2.07
which is up 10 cent from a month ago.

filled mrs barch's blazer with 89 oc yesterday in manahawkin, nj for $1.77 & 9/10
got $5 worth in my crewcab this morning in red bank, nj for $1.84 & 9/10
on a related note...
who are they fooling with the 9/10 crap? and what other product would ever get away with that?
another related note...
here in beautiful nj the pump jockey union has all kinds of influence over the state legislature. thereby prohibiting the dispensing of gasoline by any ordinary person. I recall when I was a mere lad of 16 years working at an Exxon station for $3.35 an hour. And, if the boss ever caught anyone pumping gas and not washing the windshield and offering to check the oil, we were sent home for the day. every driver was met with "hi, what can I get you?" or a similarly polite and respectful greeting. this was back in the days when a gallon of gas was under a dollar. now with pricing threatening to double that amount, I can't remember the last time anyone even offered to wash my windshield. let alone come up to the window, greet me, and ask what I would like.
I understand that oil prices have risen and thusly gasoline prices have risen to compensate but, at least lie to me. give me the impression that you care. does that little bit extra really cost so much?
and, what's the deal with the freakin' cones? you've got eighteen pumps and 6 guys working... why are ten pumps closed?
uhg... now I'm mad.
thanks, this thread has ruined my day and it's barely even begun. someone's gonna get hurt here.

When I heard that there is no self pump gas in NJ, I couldn't belive it. It just didn't make sense to me. I guess it is true.barch97 wrote:...thereby prohibiting the dispensing of gasoline by any ordinary person.
Didn't notice the prices on the way in to work today. I will post a SW Ohio price update latter.
Strange thing here, prices used to jump on Friday and come down on Monday. Now they go up early Tuesday morning and fall of on Thursday night.

They do something like that around here too but the pattern keeps changing so it's hard to pin down. We have one gas station here that everytime the prices go up, he goes .05 higher than everyone else and then drops down to where the others are the next day.Retep wrote: Strange thing here, prices used to jump on Friday and come down on Monday. Someone told me it's a tax issue. They can't charge tax on 9/10 of a cent so basically your getting $.01 tax free per gallon.GaryH wrote:Yeah, what's with the 9/10's nonsense? I've never understood why they did that. Anybody know?
Don't know if its true, just what one person told me.

My initial reaction is that the evil greedy gas retailer is upping the price on weekends to rake in all he can while people are traveling. but, when you mention that this behavior changed to a weekday... I suspect that the truth of the matter is that the owner of this station pays in advance for fuel deliveries. He artificially ups the price in anticipation of a pricey delivery and then lowers his price to adjust for actual costs and remains competitive.GaryH wrote:They do something like that around here too but the pattern keeps changing so it's hard to pin down. His delivery schedule was likely changed from friday to tuesday.

here in Racine WI its 2.05 for regular 87 octane I am afraid to look at the rest of the sign then again Wisconsin has some of the highest gas taxes in the country. I could avoid this if I drove to Il. to get gas but then after I got home I'd only have 3/4 of a tank doesn't pay damn liberals and there excessive taxes. Do I look like I want you to redistribute my wealth to some lazy no good welfare sucking bum? And no the rich should not pay more taxes than the poor or middle class because some day I hope to be rich.
Sorry political out rage taxes are a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

It is one of the many taxes on gasoline basicaly you pay a 9/10 cent tax of some type on the gas you buy the posted price is the price including taxes. Info from wife she use to be an acountant for a chain of convience stores.

On base gas costs
1.86 regular
and I haven't looked at the rest. but on base it pretty much dont change. like two weeks ago gas prices spiked . but they forgot to change the sign by 11am so they had to sell you the gas for 1.86 then the next day they changed the sign and it was 1.96 .. info from my wife who works there.
Oh as for OREGON .. When I went to visit brule this dude tell me I can't pump my gas .. he said it was the law.. then he cleaned my windows.. I didn't know if they worked off taxes but anyhow I gave him two bucks.. . so instead of paying 2.00 dollars for gas I just increased it myself to a nice total of 2.15

Its a good thing I have a company truck. I have gotten sick of looking at it in front of the house and was going to leave it at the office but with gas prices the way they are I might as well let the company pay for the gas.

8:00 AM - 14 May 2004 - Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio

$2.03 Premium
The local news is reporting that these are record high prices for the area. I might just have to start getting gas on post as it is always cheaper. I am just a little nervous about getting gas from someone who buys from the lowest bidder

People don't take into account of inflation. Sure they may be record high gas prices but it is still cheap. We pay $1.69 for 16oz. of bottled water and milk is more than $2.00 a gallon.
Now i was too young to remember this but my grandfather told me that back in '88, gas prices were, on average, close to $1.60 a gallon which with inlfation, would cost around $3.00 today.
My mother remembers that because she bought an 88 hyundai accel hatchback because she feared the gas prices would still climb.
Yes I still agree that they are expensive. A couple of years ago, i remember paying $.87 and filling my wrangler up for $12....

I dont know how true this is but it sounds like fun.. even though eventually we will still ned gas..
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR
behind " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP
OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE ITIZENS OF
THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Same here, ranges from $1.89-$1.99 and as always BP is the highest. I see all the BP's around here are still at $2.09. Even if BP happens to be the same price I won't buy from them.

It was pretty low when the major company's CEOs were in the hot seat on capital hill. Now, capital hill is getting ready to have the holiday break.

$2.04 for 87 here today. Took out the programming for 93 back to 87 months ago when it was hitting close to $3, if it hits $1, I may put it back in. I do notice the loss in power, especially going up steep long grades and off a dead stop.

UPDATE: Ok, I programmed it back to 93 octane tuning. 87 programing sucks. All I do is ping like crazy. I'm enjoying my renewed power. It's not much, but definitely noticable when pulling hard up a steep hill at highway speeds. Now I hear today that OPEC is going to decrease production in an effort to increase prices%^^%&%&*(*&*(quickbiker wrote:$2.04 for 87 here today. paid $2.02 for 89 octane mid-grade yesterday
today it went up to $2.21
kinda sucks because gas prices were part of the reason i sold my truck
I'm driving 300-350 miles a week and with the crews 15-16 MPG it wasn't looking good at $3.00+ a gallon
