motor mounts

Post by blaz »

I have had issues with my motor mounts since going to 33's. I have a manual trans. and it is probably partly due to no torque converter absorbing shock. Also, the 3.42 rear end doesn't help. Anyway here is my solution.

I used some leaf spring bushings some 1/8" plate and some 1 1/4" 1/8" wall tube I had laying around. I also used part of the original mount. I was going to go solid mount but this seemed like a better plan. time will tell.

I was going to double stack the bushings but there wasn't enough room.

Nice work! Probably doing what the V8 swap guys do would have worked too. Getting 2.8 mounts and then the 2.8-4.3 brackets. The 4.3L mounts are worthless. I destroyed 3 driver side ones on this truck since I have had it.

I've had good luck with the energy suspension poly mounts.

I've installed them in the last 4 zr2 trucks I've had.

The energy mounts for the 4.3 are good. I think they have a metal part locked around so if the rubber goes, the metal holds. The GM ones DO NOT have that.
