Shield mount questions

Brule or Art, what's the point of the springs for the hardware on the engine skid? Are they there to allow for a little travel in case you hit something to prevent from damaging the skid? Thanks.

They are to add tension to prevent the shield from rattling. I assume that there is some flex in the chassis at this point and method of attaching. That is why they did not mount it rigidly. I have used rubber belting to cut washers to replace the springs and nylon washers , on a couple installations that rattled pretty bad.Yellow Hammer wrote:...what's the point of the springs for the hardware on the engine skid?
