Westin Safari Bar with a BL?

Can anyone show me some pics of a S10 with a BL and the Safari Bar mounted?

did you have to modify the brackets or does it look fine mounted normally?

Yes, it had to be raised to "look" better. I just raised it 2" by redrilling the holes in the brackets, (similar to what I did for the rear mount on the side bars) , cut off the excess and added some gussets for strength.

I also cut the center bar and capped the ends , to allow my plate to hinge down for the hidden hitch.

Check out Tamas' solution on ZR2.com. It mounts higher yet.

how far out does the safari light bar stick out of the front end, ive been thinking about getting one but i have limited space in my garage(front and back) a fullsize would never fit in there, and about how much do they run?

Wow that's a SWEET ass looking blazer!!!!

Doesn't have a body lift though.

I had to take mine off since I trashed it offroad. It really hurts approach angles.

ya, seapahn's was a PITA....stupid looking home made light brackets on it and all

then when you bend it you can get out and tug on it for a while and people can point and laugh

what do you mean when i bend it, is the westin not a strong bar?and i have the same bow tie too,for those of you who have this little thing does your flash to left with the turn signal, mine doesnt only the right turn signal and i cant figure out whats wrong. if its the light itself or what, i had a trailer hooked up and the signals worked correctly on the trailer, but my bow tie only flashes to the right

I think he just banged it or dragged it while rolling into/onto something, or out/off of something -- with it slung under the bumper that way it can take away some clearance.

I like the one off ZR2.com from Tamas that keeps getting mentioned.....

same bar, but he custom mounted to the frame rails --- harder to do in our case since we are bodylifted instead of suspension like a ZR2, but I think the fabrication could be done fairly easily, esp since you can get the safari bar off ebay shipped for about $135

I banged around that bar all over the place from local cali trails to Arizona and Moab

Considering how much it hits stuff, it held up pretty well. In the end, I hit a rut too hard, the suspension bottomed out and the right mounting bracket drug on the ledge of the rut. That bent it back ...

I had added a bracket on top of the bar to make it a bit stronger and to mount extra lights ... that also bent back. So I decided it was time to ditch the bar.

It hangs very low ... that's the only downside. It's also NOT a push bar or a brush guard. It's just meant for lights and that's it! I also like the look a lot but don't expect it to "protect" much other than minor bumps.

About the bow tie light, that one didn't last long either. Everytime I drug the hitch on something the square part would break off (I'd forget to take it off offroad). Actually if you look at my avatar, I think that was the last time I had it ... someone was kind enough to bring me the pieces!!!!

So now I have a shackle thing for attaching tow straps. About the blinking, there are a couple of wires in the factory harness. One of break and a couple for the blinkers. You just have to make sure you wire it to the correct wire. I don't remember the color but the wires are listed in the manual that comes with the truck.

And hobie, thanks a lot for taking the pic and not bothering with giving me a hand with trying to bend the bar back

okay, finally after almost a year, this pic emerges on my very own board. it took a while to get here....but the guys here are a little nicer than the zr2 bunch that ripped me up for a few weeks there

and i would like to put out the disclaimer.....i was in the desert for 2 days and sand was everywhere. we had just gotten back and was airing up, i was blowing dust out of my vents and putting water up my nose to clear it out of all the dust. anyone that has stayed in the desert knows what i am talking about

Exactly! And I only brought that up since the topic of "driving skills" came up. Let's not drag this out to the "wood" story (i.e. Hobie and his wood at camp)
