hey guys whats goin on, im going to be gettin a 2001 s10 crew. i was wondering how high i can lift it without doin the front axel conversion?

A body lift will get you room to fit taller tires and total about 3".

There are a few suspension lift kits around that will go 5"-6"

Try searching for - "Superlift" , "BDS" , and "Marvelous Mystery Lift" .

i want a suspension lift but was wondering if and how much i can lift it without doing the axel conversion.

You can do a 6" suspension lift and a 2" body lift for a total of 8 inches. However I would not run a tire bigger then 33x12.5. Just to many issues to deal with as far as the front end components, rubbing, cv's, ball joints etc. Do some research you will find alot of info and the search function on this site is very user frienly.

yeah i want to put a 6inch on it but i don't know what id have to do to the front end. thats why i was askin if i need to do the conversion for a 6inch or not

I'm not sure what you mean by conversion, If you mean solid front axle, the answer is no.

There really is a lot of info on here about different lifts.

Thanks alot, but i didnt see if it need to be a straight axel or if you can use the stock ones? ha ha i know i can look myseld but right now my internet is really slow, im on DSL and my old dial up was way faster.

All three lifts mentioned above, you will keep your stock front axle. :D

Be careful complaining about dial up! Our Mod runs this site from a dial up connection. :!: :D :wink:

ok thanks alot for the help. i know dial up aint bad i use it when i go to my dads and right now its better than this damn DSL. lol but thanks alot. i was thinkin maybe a 6 inch with maybe 35's or 36's and some motor work.

The Superlift thread is a long one, but there is lots of information. The kit was prototyped on a members truck and at least three others installed them too.

I know there is a BDS kit on a truck here still as well.

If you really want to go 35" or bigger, I think the SFA would be your best bet. The stock IFS is just not sturdy enough for tires that big IMO. Look to Quickbiker's (Paul's) truck. It is a picture of the perfect SFA rig.

I go to great pains to keep this site "dial-up" friendly. I rarely see speeds above 26K here and there are no faster options available thus far.

i just dont want to go through the work of puttin a different axel in. thats why i wanted to know how high i can go with out converting.

The 6" Superlift and tires as big as 33x12.5 would be about it then. Even then some trimming may be needed to really offroad.

33's sound small for a 6" lift, do u know of anyone on here that had one like it?

When superlift first came out with a lift for our trucks they recomended a 33x12.50 tire, a lot of people had rubbing issues with this size tire. If you go to there site now they recomend a 32x11.50 tire size! Go to there site search it out. Here is a link to the directions for the S10 crew cab lift.

If you want 35's or 36's and not go sfa, you will need a 6" superlift and a 2' body lift and a whole lot of trimming. And then your front end will fall apart. Our trucks are not made like the big ones. The front end just won't hold up. And yes that kinda sucks. lol!

here's my old truck. i had 7 inches of lift and still had to trim to get 33X12.50s to fit.

I really would advise you to not go any bigger then 33's, unless it's going to be a complete street queen and you're not going to abuse it, and what's the fun in that???? :lol:

There is nothing wrong with trimming and of course there is a neat way and a sloppy way to do it. The S10's wheel wells just aren't designed for bigger than 29 inch tires. If all ya do is lift and lift till the tires don't rub, it'll just look rediculous and be way to top heavy and useless.
