Loud Noise at 30+ miles an hour (wheel bearing)

Post by S10CREW01 »

Has any one had a problem with there crews with loud noise at 30+ miles an hour? I did 2" lift in early spring with no issues, but recently (last 2 weeks) I get this loud roaring sound from the passengers side. Any ideas and help as always is appreciated thanks..

A little vague for me to be of assistance.

Can you describe the noise a little better? :? Does it happen all the time at any speed? :? Does it vary with rpm's? :? Does it happen when turning or going straight or both? :? If you supply more info then one of us might be able to help you isolate the problem.

Try your best to describe the sound. Usually that is just for the enjoyment of the mechanic at the expense of the customer, but in this case it may be helpful :mg:

Sometimes it helps to let us know what it is not too. Process of elimination.

OK, Not trying to highjack a post, but the girlfriends s-10 blazer is doing the same and I was going to ask/post the same this morning. Noise is from passenger side, is loud almost like there is a very aggresive mud tire just on the passenger side front, noise quits when turning right or doing the NASCAR tire warmup towards the right ( it starts back up as the steering wheel aproaches the centerline/left), noisy while driving straight or turning left. I didn't check the CV joint yet as she just told me about it lastnight at about 7pm and I had already been  . Any thoughts, CV or wheel bearing? Let us know.

Check wheel bearings. Inspect the brakes.
Some times an aggressive tire tread pattern can create a sound in one direction for bi-directional tread designs.

OK, I'll check all of that when I get a chance. As usual, a woman taking up more of my time, (and now  she wants me to skip hunting tonight to take her on a harley ride-suppose to be 65 this afternoon/evening). But at least I have another s-10 to mod..  I still need to invert my front bilsteins shocks yet.

Sounds like wheel bearing. Mine started out as a little hum, eventurally got loud enough to where I couldn't have a conversation.

About 4 weeks ago the other half came to me with the same type of problem. It’s sounded like a metal sound so I checked the lugs and found the front passenger was loose. After tighten them all the sound was gone. I think the now colder outside temps had a lot to do with it.
