cheap lifts

Post by ldge »

I cant really do mechanical things on my own. I went to a place and they said that it would cost $650 to put on a BL. I have been reading some of the posts on here about ways to get lifts. I saw people talkin about add a leaf and shackle lifts and t-bar cranks. Can someone give me some prices and tell me the cheapest way to get an inch or 2. And will the t-bar crank and other things be bad on my truck as far as wearing things down. Thanks for the help.

T-bar crank is the cheapest...it's free (you'll need an alignment afterwards though). It will get you 1" tops after everything's said and done. It will add a little more stress to the front suspension parts, but nothing to serious. Just don't max them out.

Adding shackles to the rear leafs or add-a-leafs will get you 1.5"-2" depending on what you go with. Shackles are cheaper and easier and also softer (more flex).

A body lift will get you 2". It's really not that hard to intall with simple hand tools and a friend or two to help you out...it's just time consuming...plan on a whole day to do it. parts will be less than $200, labor will be whatever you pay your buddies to help. 8)

Don't go with the 2" suspension lifts for the front end...those are bad.

Not really. Once you do the t-bar crank you should do the shackles or add-a-leaf also so you don't have that high in the front "bulldog" look...unless that's what you're going for. :)

I never put shackles or add-a-leafs on theres plenty of room in the rear just needed the extra inch or for me it was 1 1/2 to clear the 30s
now my truck is level

if u do the body lift and tb crank you can run 31's on stock tires. been there done that. but i would go big 8 to 9 inches of lift it sounds like a lot but it really isn't. :D
